THE PHOENIX 5K!

I have friends everywhere...

Celebrating the anniversary of Fanthropy Running Club, we're thrilled to announce our newest event: The Phoenix 5k! All registrants will receive an awesome 3" two-sided medal featuring a "Rebel Phoenix" and a dye-sublimated ribbon. You can complete your mileage any where and any way you want and everything is on the honor system so no proof of completion is required. The medals have already been ordered and we will set a cut-off date for registrations that, if you register before that date, will hopefully get you your medal before September 1st (Phoenix Day) so you can earn and wear your medal on that day. Registration will stay open through Phoenix Day and then any excess medals will be moved to the Fanthropy Back Catalog the following week.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FANTHROPY!

Over the past 12 years what started as a simple post announcing our first virtual running event went with a goal to raise $500 for pediatric cancer research has grown into a community of Fanthropists who have logged over 30 million miles and donated over $2.6 million to more than 200 hundred direct-impact charities around the world!

Today, we celebrate 12 years of community, fandom, fitness, and philanthropy. We invite you to join us in the FRC Fan Domain for a day of memories, celebrations, and, of course, plenty of shenanigans!

Fanthropy continued it's amazing journey of with an incredible 2025! This year saw us focus on some critical areas in need of support especially the California wildfires and other disaster relief efforts. We also had a big focus on reading as we raised funds for numerous literacy charities and donated more than 1,900 books to hundreds of Little Free Libraries all over the world as part of this summer's Direct Impact Project!

We partnered once again with Charity Events at Dragon Con for the Dragon Con Hustle: Rebel 5k raising over $17,000 for NAMI Georgia!

Finally, and most importantly, our 74 Racery teams in Battle of the Fandoms and Fanthropy Rumbles...along with194 individual runners participating in Fans Run the World...logged over 168,000 miles as part of their physical fitness journey!

We look forward to 2026 and hope you'll continue to engage with our amazing community in the FRC Fan Domain! Bring on 2026!!

FANS RUN THE WORLD 2026!!!

For the sixth time, the Fanthropists are going on another 365-mile adventure! This time we're going to be running, walking, and arm-powered rolling through the Land of Fire and Ice...Iceland!!

As we wrap up 2024, we are amazed by the our Fanthropy community has accomplished our tenth year!

Amazed...but not surprised...not even a little bit.

Our incredible community of Fandom Philanthropists logged nearly 290,000 miles on their physical fitness journey while participating in eight Racery events including our year-long Fans Run the World 366-mile event. Those events, along with the proceeds from three incredible medal events, resulted in $32,250 of donations to 62 charity beneficiaries...all chosen by the Fanthropy community. On top of that, we partnered with Charity Events at Dragon Con to generate a huge donation of $15,799 for the Arthritis Foundation Georgia. Finally, our Direct Impact Project made a HUGE difference for Gleaning For The World and their disaster relief efforts across the country and around the world with over 1,700 comfort items and more than AN ACTUAL FREAKIN' TON of cat food for local shelters!!

While, 2024 was awesome, we can't wait for 2025 and the amazing things yet to come!! Make sure to check in with the FRC Fan Domain regularly to stay up to date on everything happening in this phenomenal community!!

FANTHROPY RUNNING CLUB IS EXCITED TO PROCLAIM THAT OUR THIRD VIRTUAL RUNNING EVENT OF 2024 IS...

The Flying Monkey 5k!

L. Frank Baum created a magical world full of characters that has been beloved for over 120 years. But in every good story there's tale of hope, loss, and renewal. That's the the tale of the "winged monkeys." They were initially a rather carefree, but mischievous, bunch until they were eventually enslaved by the Wicked Witch of the West who used them to conquer. Fortunately, a girl from Kansas (and her little dog, too!) managed a little "aquatic liberation" and the winged monkeys were FREE! Now, the flying monkeys have returned to remind all of you that you have the power to save the world.

Are you a "Tigger" or an "Eeyore"? A "Pooh" or a "Piglet"? Let's be honest, sometimes we're all a little Rabbit. Regardless of which character (or all of them) you love most, we can all agree that A.A. Milne's classic stories of Winnie the Pooh speak to our souls in so many ways.

FANTHROPY RUNNING CLUB IS BOUNCING WITH JOY TO ANNOUNCE OUR SECOND VIRTUAL RUNNING EVENT OF 2024:

A RATHER NICE DAY FOR A 10K!

A.A. Milne's classic stories of young Christopher Robin and his stuffed friends in the Hundred Acre Wood have been foundational for so many children for nearly a century. In 2022, Milne's Winnie-The-Pooh entered the public domain and we are thrilled to offer this incredible medal featuring many of those beloved characters. Two characters, in particular, have significant meaning for many of us. Because some days you're a "Tigger" bouncing all over the place...and sometimes you're an "Eeyore"...and just want to take a nap. This one-of-a-kind medal features an internal rotating disk that you can rotate to determine the kind of day/race you're having! So whether you want a bouncing 10k...or a sleeping one...this medal is for you!

This is a virtual event so you can complete the distance any where and any WAY you want! Do you need to break it up to make it more manageable? No problem! Want to walk? Groovy. Want to cha-cha slide 6.2 miles? That's impressive! We operate on the honor system, so everyone who registers will get this awesome 3" medal and no proof of completion is required!

There's also a shirt! (Of course, there's a shirt) Featuring best friends Pooh and Piglet on the front and Tigger and Eeyore on the back, this shirt is a available as an optional separate purchase from Custom Ink.

The proceeds from this event will benefit all of the charity beneficiaries selected by the Fanthropy Running Club community for the Fanthropy Rumble Round 2 and the Battle of the Fandoms Round 2 events in the second quarter of the year. So ALL of the charities the community selects will share the proceeds of this event equally!
