A huge THANK YOU to Judge Rafe Royal for helping our youth judge the Celebrity Sheep Showdown and for sharing such an encouraging message!

Thank you to all of our teachers and coaches who were great sports and jumped in to participate. You showed up, had fun, and made this event one our youth won't forget.

For many 4-H youth, the South Dakota State Fair is their Super Bowl. It's the culmination of months of early mornings, late nights, hard work, responsibility, and dedication to the animals they have raised. Yet every year, many young people feel torn between showing at the fair and being at school, practices, or games.

The truth is, they shouldn't have to choose. When schools, coaches, and 4-H work together, we send a powerful message to our youth: your hard work matters, no matter where it happens. Whether they're competing on the court/field or in the show ring, they're learning commitment, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and responsibility, lessons that will last a lifetime.

Here in Lake County, we are incredibly blessed with teachers, coaches, parent coaches, and schools that understand the value of both. That support means more than you know, and we recognize that not every county is as fortunate.

Thank you for believing in our youth, celebrating all of their accomplishments, and helping them chase every opportunity. Together, we're raising the next generation of leaders.
