Congratulations to JK Mosaic Jennifer Kuhns! She is the artist featured on Olympia (WA) Arts Walk program for this year. She's also teaching at the KBW Glass Art Educational Foundation GEM V Sep 21-24, 2023. Come learn design, cutting or technique from her in-person! http://gem.kbwfoundation.com Proceeds support glass art education in classrooms across the USA.

Surprise! Check out the Olympia Fall Arts Walk cover art!!!

So yeah, I'll be at Hot Toddy, just like in 2007 when I officially launched my business and was on the spring Arts Walk cover.

And we'll gather at 425 4th Avenue (next to McCoy's Tavern) to dedicate the new Metamorphosis mural that Saturday, the 7th, at noon.

Whatever we write here about Scandia Wood-Blackwell will not do justice to the classes she is teaching. Insanely talented artist in many formats. Career professional in the arts. Technical support for Spectrum Glass and Oceanside Glass Tile for over 20 years. To say she may be the most knowledgeable person about System 96 glass and fusing that you will ever encounter would not be far off. Did I mention she is also one of the nicest, most approachable and awesome teachers we have met? She does not teach often. This is a rare opportunity to take classes from one of the art glass industry's absolute treasures. She has two, 2-day classes at GEM V. Be sure your mind is free before stepping in because it will be packed with new knowledge and skills when you leave. Sign up at https://gem.kbwfoundation.com

Art Education Grants - Round Three
Now taking applications for Art Educator Grants!!
To encourage the teaching of glass art in public schools, the nonprofit KBW Foundation is offering $250 grants to public or private school art instructors who are interested in developing an art glass program, or presently teaching glass art. These grants can be used for the regular school semester program or a summer session, and can be redeemed at art glass suppliers for class supplies. You choose the art glass supplier; the KBW Foundation will then pay $250.00 directly to the supplier for the glass supplies of your choice.

Grant applications will be accepted until May 1.

Notices to successful applicants should be received by June 1.
We also sponsor booths at state Art Teacher Conferences, connecting art teachers to resources and information about art glass. We offer teachers art glass lesson plans that can be used in the classroom.
Public School art teachers can apply for a grant here:
