Have you ever wondered how to tell one tree from another or what secrets are hidden in the leaves above your head? Join us for an outdoor adventure in the teaching gardens surrounding the 4-H Office as we become nature detectives for the day!

During this hands-on program, youth will learn how to identify common trees using clues such as leaves, bark, seeds, and growth patterns. We’ll explore the gardens and investigate tree characteristics. Along the way, participants will take part in interactive leaf and tree-themed activities.

While Dane County 4-H Camp 2 at was nacho average camp weather wise, the heat did not melt our campers and they had fun with the cheesy Wisconsin Olympics challenges, canoeing, archery and deer ecology!

Thank you to our Upham Woods staff and our 4-H Camp volunteers who pivoted and used alternate spaces and water games to keep our campers cool as cream puffs.

2027 Dane County Camp dates are set – mark your calendars! July 21-24, 2027 (Gr 3-5) and July 24-27, 2027 (Gr 6-8). Hope to see you there!

Dane County 4-H Camp 1 had a gouda time at with our On Wisconsin theme! Our grade 3-5 campers packed more fun into a few days than you can fit sour cream on a baked potato.

From paddling in canoes and making a splash while swimming to building new friendships that are sure to last long after camp, every day was filled with adventure, food from Wisconsin and smiles. A huge thank you to our adult volunteer team, counselors and campers for making this year's camp such a success!

We are off to a great start at the Dane County Fair! Over 150 attended the Fair Exhibitor Party last night - thanks to our youth volunteers who organized the event.

Friday is Kids Day - stop by to make a straw rocket, balloon sword, spoon launcher, build with LEGO bricks and more until 3pm. Then, stay for a potato, ice cream, animals and our Scholarship VIPs!

There will be two sites this year where you can have your birds tested, June 21st at Oregon Farm Center and June 23rd at Deforest High School.
