ISE- Institute for Sustainable Enterprise at FDU

ISE- Institute for Sustainable Enterprise at FDU ISE is funded through seed grants, corporate partnerships, research and program-development grants, and other revenue producing services.

Founded in the AACSB-accredited Silberman College of Business in 2005, the Institute for Sustainable Enterprise (ISE) educates current and future leaders of business, government, nonprofit, and educational institutions about managing sustainably. Our strengths are our multi-disciplinary approach, our network of academics, executives, consultants and NGO representatives, and our ability to create c

ollaborative dialogue about solutions to complex sustainability issues. We are especially good at systems thinking, learning from doing, building bridges between sectors (corporate, government, non-government, education, academic), and creating an atmosphere that fosters thoughtful reflection and collaboration. Since our founding, we have achieved significant accomplishments in our priority strategic areas of applied research: field studies examining how to best enhance sustainability; education: coursework, seminars, workshops, and training programs to teach leaders/managers and students to lead and manage sustainably as world citizens; and services: network—building and facilitation to support concrete sustainability—enhancing initiatives.

As finals come to a close, all of us here at ISE would like to wish everyone a safe, fun, and GREEN summer!

SUCCESSFUL STUDENT CONFERENCE ON RENEWABLE ENERGY CHALLENGE”

Conference was held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Lenfell Hall, Hennessy Hall (the Mansion), from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Over 60 high school students from Barack Obama Green Charter School and Morristown High School STEM Program once again rolled up their sleeves and teamed with Fairleigh Dickinson University college student facilitators to construct explanations, design and discuss solutions to real world energy problems as part of the 2016 Sustainability Challenge.

Case studies involved the renewable energy initiatives at the Picatinny Arsenal (ARDEC) which is a premier military research center concentrating on munitions. The U.S. military is the biggest user of energy in the country. By 2025, ARDEC's plan is to have 75% of their energy coming from renewable sources.

The speakers at the just-concluded Conference were Shah Dabiri, Pam Sheehan and Stacey Yauch of ARDEC. The student teams were highly motivated and engaged as they listened to the speakers, engaged in group discussions, and presented their findings of ARDEC case studies.

Special thanks to our funders FirstEnergy and Picatinny Arsenal (ARDEC).”
