We are an all-breed companion animal rescue and affordable vet clinic in Madison, Wisconsin.

📧 EMAIL us at [email protected] with all questions to reach us directly! We place animals in our volunteer foster homes so they can get all they need while they await their forever homes. Animals do not reside at our office or clinic; they live in our volunteer foster homes. We offer full-servic

e, non emergency veterinary care Monday-Friday. We provide spays, neuters, dental care, and other surgical services for cats and dogs. We also offer wellness health services (annual exams, vaccines, blood work, microchips, etc). Our clinic sees our Underdog animals, and is also open to the public. We offer lower-cost spay/neuter services to everyone, but help with other health services on a sliding scale basis. Email us at [email protected] to make an appointment for veterinary services.

Today, another group of hopeful faces made the journey from Tennessee to Wisconsin. 🐾❤️

And those big, bright eyes are taking it ALL in.

The Wisconsin sunshine. ☀️
The fresh air.
New surroundings.
And a future that suddenly looks a whole lot brighter.

Every animal who arrived today already has a foster home waiting for them — and that is exactly what makes transports like this possible. ❤️

But there are always more waiting.

More animals we could say YES to.
More seats we could fill on the next transport.
More lives we could change.

We just need more people willing to open their homes and join our incredible foster family. 🏡🐾

🐾❤️ HAPPY TAILS: LOVE AFTER LOSS… x2. ❤️🐾

Sometimes the right dog finds you exactly when you need them.

And sometimes, it happens twice.

This Happy Tails story started a few years ago after a family experienced the loss of a beloved dog. They noticed their senior pup was grieving too, and eventually a little face stopped them mid-Facebook scroll.

Enter Oscar 🐾

Just 6 months old and originally found in a dumpster, Oscar quickly proved that where your story begins certainly doesn't determine where it ends.

His new family gave him a new name: Jasper — meaning “treasure.” ❤️

Because one person's trash really did become another family's treasure.

For two wonderful years, Jasper had his senior canine companion by his side. Then came another heartbreaking goodbye. 💔

The plan was to wait a few months before considering another dog.

They made it three days before they started scrolling. 😂

And a few weeks later, there was Domino

Those ears. That face. That foster write-up. Something just said this could be the one.

Turns out, they were right. Domino fit right in, and Jasper had a new buddy to share life with. 🐶🐶

But then came the part that even surprised us…

Jasper and Domino came from the SAME southern rescue partner — TWO YEARS APART. 🤯❤️

What are the chances?!

Two dogs. Two different transports. Two years apart. One southern rescue partner. And ultimately, the very same forever family.

This is why we love our repeat adopters. After experiencing both the incredible love and inevitable heartbreak that comes with sharing your life with a pet, they choose to open their hearts again.

Not to replace the ones they've lost.

But to give another deserving dog the chance to be loved just as deeply. ❤️

🍫 This brindle baby is sweeter than a box of chocolates! 🍯

If you're craving something warm, rich, and utterly irresistible, we have the ultimate treat for you. Meet Rolo, our 3-month-old, 20 lb brindle boy! With a coat that looks like a swirl of creamy caramel dipped in deep milk chocolate, he is a walking nugget of absolute sweetness.

Rolo lives to be right beside his favorite people, melting directly into your lap the second it's time for cuddles. Out on walks, he shows off his irresistibly cute "prance walk," proudly carrying the biggest sticks he can find. He’s already walking like a total pro on his leash!

The Sweetest Details:
🍫 Kids? Loves them!
🍫 Dogs? Would do great with a canine companion or solo.
🍫Overnight Dream: Sleeps soundly in his crate straight through the night!
🍫 Training: Making fantastic progress on crate- and potty- training (though remember, this little chocolate drop is still a baby!).

That’s 127 fresh starts.
127 families made a little more complete.
127 Underdogs waking up knowing they’re finally **HOME.** 🏡

And THAT deserves a celebration! 🥳

🖤🐈 Happy National Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈🖤

We have the purrfect girl to celebrate today: Magnolia, affectionately called Mags by her foster mom. 🥹

Magnolia came to Underdog with her kittens, and like so many babies, they found homes quickly.

But Momma stayed behind. 💔

Magnolia has already endured trauma in her short life, but in her foster home, she is thriving. And that’s where this story gets a little bittersweet…

Magnolia thinks she’s home.

Her foster mom knows she deserves so much more — a forever home where she can be loved and cherished for exactly who she is.

And Mags has completely transformed when it comes to other cats. She initially wanted nothing to do with feline friends. Now? She’s become a surrogate mama to several foster kittens. 🖤

She grooms them daily, roughhouses with them to remind them who’s boss, and watches from above to make sure nobody gets into too much trouble. 😂

But Magnolia isn’t just a wonderful foster mama. She’s sweet, affectionate, and full of personality. She gives the cutest little nose boops, loves being a shoulder kitty, and yes… she has a little sass.

But that sass? It’s part of her spark. ✨

Magnolia is amazing. She has so much love to give, and she deserves the world.

So today, on National Black Cat Appreciation Day, let’s find Mags the forever home she deserves. 🏡🖤

Because somewhere out there is a family who is going to look at this beautiful girl and think:

“That’s my cat.”

Austin is almost FIVE months old… and he’s still growing up in foster care. 💔

That’s something a puppy should NEVER have to do.

Austin is a perfectionist at all the important puppy things:
🐾 Napping? Expert level.
🐾 Tug-of-war? Champion.
🐾 Learning commands? Absolutely mastering them.
🐾 Being ridiculously adorable? He’s got that one down perfectly. 🥹❤️

So why hasn’t this sweet boy found his forever home yet? 😢

He’s ready. He’s waiting. And he deserves a family who will love him through all his puppy adventures and give him the forever he’s been hoping for.
