Recently, Prairie UU Society had solar panels installed on the roofs of the church. Our tech people developed a set of charts that show how much electricity is generated for our own use and beyond.

Hello neighbors!
(From Allied Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood Association)

We have two opportunities to advocate for Madison Metropolitan school district plans this week/month:

1) This Wednesday: Cherokee Heights Middle School Rebuild
The district is preparing for the reconstruction of Cherokee Middle School, along with Toki Middle School/Orchard Ridge Elementary School and Sennet Middle School.

Learn more about the current plans for the new Cherokee Heights building this Wednesday and share your thoughts.

Cherokee Heights: 5:30–7 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, in the school’s library

A session at Toki/Orchard Ridge took place earlier this spring; an additional event will happen later in the summer, as the project team continues to work through designs and collaborate with city and community partners.

2) Building for the Future Boundary Review

There was a public meeting last month about this. MMSD is proposing revising school attendance boundaries to balance out attendance at schools (some are overcrowded, some have capacity).
Detailed information is available here: https://www.madison.k12.wi.us/about/building-for-the-future-boundary-review
The first draft of a potential boundary scenario has proposed that students in the Allied portion of our neighborhood would all go to nearby Orchard Ridge Elementary (instead of choosing between Stephens or Crestwood, which are both far away).
This would be a huge improvement for our neighborhood. It looks like the survey has been taken down, but if you want to voice your support for this, please email a board member. I think the best board member to email would be Blair Mosner Feltham, whose schools include Crestwood and Orchard Ridge. Her email is [email protected]

UPCOMING STREET PROJECTS ON CRESCENT ROAD AND SENTINEL PASS

Hello neighbors

Starting in late May or early June, there will be two projects that will impact homeowners and road access in our neighborhood:

On Crescent Road between Red Arrow Trail and Equity Lane, contractors will be replacing water mains and making improvements to storm sewers to reduce flooding.
On Sentinel Pass between Red Arrow Trail and Apache Drive, contractors will be replacing water mains.

The city of Fitchburg has sent letters to property owners adjacent to the project notifying them of the work. These improvements are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to maintain reliable infrastructure, improve drainage, and support long-term neighborhood resiliency. To provide more information and answer questions, residents are invited to attend a PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING:

Thursday, May 14, 2026 6:00-7:00 PM
Fitchburg City Hall – Frances Huntley-Cooper Council Chambers
5520 Lacy Rd, Fitchburg

At this meeting, City staff will review the scope of work, anticipated schedule, and what residents can expect during construction. A livestream of this meeting will also be available at: http://factv.fitchburgwi.gov/internetchannel?site=2

Prior to construction, we ask that residents in the construction areas remove any landscaping items (plants, invisible dog fences, special landscape features, etc.) they have in the public right-of-way near this construction. The City is not responsible for restoration of private improvements in the public right-of-way beyond grass and asphalt driveway aprons.

During construction, the roads will be closed. The signs on the barricades will read “Road Closed Local Traffic Only.” The contractor is required to maintain access for residents within the project limits.

Projects updates will be available throughout the project at https://www.fitchburgwi.gov/2741/Belmar-and-Tower-Hill-Neighborhood-Utili

Contact Ben Schulte at [email protected] or (608) 270-4262 with any questions related to the storm sewer work and Chelsea Wilson at [email protected] or (608)270-4264 for questions regarding the water work.
