Tales_With_BigT My adorable dogs visit schools, neighborhood centers, and events to help kids learn to read out loud and feel more confident about their reading skills.

I have a traveling library with over 500 books I take everywhere. ALL feature a character of color! There are many beneficial aspects of children reading to dogs:
- increased motivation to read independently
- increased self-confidence and self-esteem
- increased sense of support
- reduction of stress/anxiety

Today is World Pet Memorial Day. Big T, you made such an impact on the marginalized community in Dane County. Everyone misses you so much, and the kids still talk about you. We love you. Thank you for all you have done!

After 10 years of serving the community, it is with a heavy heart that I write this post. The past 2 years have been very trying times for us, and yet, we showed up and showed out- FOR THE CHILDREN. They matter. They will ALWAYS matter. However, you need to know when to hang it up, and sadly for the dogs and me, that time has come. I will be donating hundreds of books to community organizations that will benefit from them, as well as The Book Deal who have ALWAYS supported us. Again, this was not and easy decision, but it's time. Love and puppy kisses to you all.

Joey celebrated Chanukah with almost 40 kids last night at the Meadowood Neighborhood Center. First the kids read two Chanukah books and then Joey surprised them all with dreidels, chocolate coins (gelt) and instructions on how to play!!! Tables were filled with kids playing the traditional game of dreidel. Look at all those smiles!!!
