On April 1st, 2018 Firefighter/Paramedic Richard Garner passed away in the line of duty shortly after getting off of a 48 hour shift. His passing not only left a huge void within our Department, but also within the community. Richard, or Garner, as many of us called him was a big man with an even larger personality and heart. When he wasn’t at work he was either out riding his motorcycle or mentoring youth in the community. That is why we at Firefighters Local 311 Charites have organized an annual motorcycle ride to raise funds for a scholarship program that will to help men and women pursue their dream career in the Fire and Emergency Medical Services field.
