We are proud to announce that Deputy Shotliff has been selected as the newest K9 Handler for the Dane County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit.

Deputy Shotliff was sworn in on December 9, 2019, and earned this opportunity through his work ethic, leadership, and well-rounded experience within the Sheriff’s Office.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from UW–Platteville and is a retired member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard. Deputy Shotliff is currently assigned to the Town of Cottage Grove contract, working a first/second split shift.

Deputy Shotliff will travel to Excel K9 Services in Ohio this June to select his future K9 partner and begin training.

We highlight the k9s a lot — but sometimes the handlers need love too. Congratulations to Deputy Katzenmeyer on being recognized with the Valor Award!!

One of our own, Deputy Katzenmeyer, was presented the Award for Valor by the Wisconsin Professional Police Association at their recent banquet. In October of last year, Deputy Katzenmeyer responded to an active house fire where a man was trapped inside. Deputy Katzenmeyer crawled on his stomach through the thick smoke to pull the man to safety.

We want to commend Deputy Katzenmeyer for his heroic actions! Thank you for your bravery, your quick action, and your unwavering dedication to protecting our community. 🎖👏

We’re especially proud to spotlight Dorjee and Deputy Tseering, whose professionalism, presence, and commitment help ensure a safe and welcoming airport experience for all.
