Glacier's Edge Council, Scouting America

Glacier's Edge Council, Scouting America The program also gives youth weekly involvement with the small peer-group led by an adult. The Webelos program is designed for fourth and fifth graders.

Glacier's Edge Council, Scouting America, delivers the promise of Scouting to over 3,000 girls and boys in 16 counties of south central Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Cub Scouting (K - 5 girls/boys)

Cub Scouting provides youth with a program of communication, education, achievement, and fun that involves the parent and family. The Lion-Cub program for kindergarteners provides structured opportu

nities for youth and their parents or other adults to spend quality time together learning more about the world, the community, and themselves. In turn, they enjoy projects, activities, and fellowship in a group of adults. It is a continuation of Cub Scouting that involves the youth more in the dynamics of the small peer-group, the impact of the adult role-model becomes strong, and the program includes overnight camping. Scouts BSA (formerly known as Boy Scouts)(11 through 17-year-old girls/boys)

The Scouts BSA program involves the youth more heavily in small peer group dynamics with the adult-role model becoming more significant. The program revolves around leadership opportunity; decision-making; hiking; camping; and personal achievement. Youth are exposed to over 120 hobby and career choices, frequently resulting in life-long involvement. Venturing (14 through 20 year-old men and women)

The Venturing program provides young men and women with positive experiences so that they may become responsible and caring adults. Features exciting and meaningful activities including high-adventure programs, that allow youth to pursue special interests while developing leadership skills. Learning for Life Programs (non-Scouting)

Exploring (14 through 20 year-old men and women) Exploring is part of Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women. It provides opportunities for young adults to explore career and hobby interests. The program is structured around the interest area of the youth, supported by the expertise and resources of the chartering organization. Traditional Exploring includes a variety of service, outdoor, fitness, and social activity. Career Awareness Exploring helps to expose high school students to the vast opportunities available, and assists them in making informed occupational choices. The Northern Lights District came together on June 3rd for an outstanding evening of fellowship, recognition, and celebration at our annual Awards and Picnic Gathering. With a great turnout from leaders, volunteers, and families across the district, the event was filled with camaraderie, laughter, and appreciation for those who make Scouting possible.

Attendees enjoyed great food and the opportunity to connect with fellow Scouters while celebrating the accomplishments of our units and volunteers. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of several dedicated leaders whose service, commitment, and positive impact on youth continue to strengthen Scouting throughout our district.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening a success. Congratulations to all of our award recipients, and thank you for your continued dedication to delivering an exceptional Scouting program for the youth of Northern Lights District.

New Four-Month Program Planner for Cub Scout Packs
The Four-Month Program Planner provides a roadmap for leaders who want to guide their
Scouts through Badge of Rank requirements in four months. By following the planner, a Scout
can complete all six required Adventures and two Elective Adventures, freeing the rest of the
year for additional electives, activities, and fun without the pressure of advancement deadlines.
The planner begins each month with a Parents’ meeting, helping leaders involve families in the
program and share responsibilities for the month’s activities. In the first month, an additional
introductory meeting for Cub Scouts and parents helps build connections between new and
returning Pack families.
The guide then outlines a week-by-week program plan, including required and elective
Adventures, a service project, and a campout for Arrow of Light Scouts. For the first elective
Adventure, the planner suggests a Raingutter Regatta, though Packs could choose to run a
Pinewood Derby instead. A second elective Adventure is left entirely up to the Pack.
The Planner will be available as a two-page guide and card deck with instructions and QR codes
linking to resources for each activity and will be showcased at the National Annual Meeting
