Major win for Wisconsin utility customers 💡

Oracle has officially dropped its lawsuit challenging the Public Service Commission’s data center safeguards, which are rules CUB actively championed to protect everyday ratepayers.

As energy-intensive data centers expand across Wisconsin, everyday homeowners, renters, and small businesses should not be on the hook for tech giants' massive power needs. These PSC safeguards ensure tech companies provide the necessary credit backing and pay their own way.

Tech giant Oracle is suing Wisconsin state regulators over credit rules for its Port Washington data center, a dispute made even more critical following S&P Global's downgrade of Oracle's credit rating. When federal emergency orders forced aging, out-of-state coal plants to stay open past their planned retirement dates, Wisconsin utility customers were left on the hook for an estimated $117 million. As highlighted in recent news coverage, CUB is actively taking legal action to challenge these orders.
