MONONA POLICE DEPARTMENT
NEWS RELEASE: Wanted Subject / Eluding Incident
CASE NUMBER: MO26-05110
DATE: April 28, 2026 at 8:22pm

On the evening of April 28, 2026, a driver entered Monona at high speeds after fleeing from the Madison Police Department.

An MOPD officer first observed a vehicle with fraudulent temporary registration and heavily tinted windows traveling eastbound on US 12 at speeds well above the posted limit. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated and continued to flee, leading to a pursuit near US 12 and Hwy 51 in Monona.

During the incident, the driver turned off the vehicle’s headlights and made unsafe maneuvers thought traffic. The suspect then traveled onto WB I-90 before accessing Hwy 30. As the vehicle continued toward areas with increased traffic, the pursuit was terminated by the MOPD officers based on the factors involved and worsening traffic conditions. The vehicle was last spotted exiting at Fair Oaks Ave and traveling towards E. Washington Ave.

No injuries or property damage were reported in this incident. MOPD was assisted in this incident by our colleagues at MPD, FIPD, SNPD and DCSO

Suspect Identified: Daeshawn Webster, 25, Madison

Mr. Webster remains at large. He is currently wanted out of Dane County on felony warrants, including felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, both with repeater status. Based on this incident, MOPD has established probable cause to refer additional charges including felony eluding and reckless endangering safety, along with other possible relevant crimes. Mr. Webster is also currently on probation and is listed as an absconder from the WI DOC. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty on his non-convicted offenses.

Mr. Webster, I am STRONGLY encouraging you to turn yourself in. Things like this don’t simply get lost in the pile here at Monona PD.

I’m not sure if I can convince you that it’s not worth it, but maybe others can. Feel free to ask around. In a prior case involving an individual who fled from MOPD and remained at large, that person was ultimately apprehended by our partners at the United States Marshals Service. That individual is now facing federal charges in addition to the original state offenses.

Again, it's not worth it.

For those who may know Mr. Webster’s whereabouts, and you’d like to assist in getting him a taxpayer funded ride to jail, please consider contacting the Madison Area Crime Stoppers. Call (608) 266-6014 or submit a tip online at P3TIPS.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Incident Type: Grafitti and Shots Fired

Incident Date: 4/8/2026 - 4/9/2026

Release Date: 4/10/2026

Incident Numbers: FP26-05827, FP26-05810, FP26-05781 (Vandalism), FP26-05835 (Shots Fired)

The Fitchburg Police Department is investigating a series of graffiti incidents and a shots fired incident on the west side of the City and is requesting help from the public.

Several racist and profane graffiti markings to public and private properties across the neighborhoods of Lacy Heights and Seminole Forest were discovered Thursday morning. Spraypainted graffiti was located on the area bike path, residential fences and mailboxes, and street signs. Specifically, the bike path and homes between Lacy Road and Schumann Drive, and between Evoke Drive and Persimmon Drive.

We are asking residents in the area to review any available surveillance or doorbell camera footage from 4/8 at 5:00PM to 4/9 at 8:30AM, that may have captured suspicious activity related to this incident. Recordings of suspicious persons or activity that may seem unrelated could still be valuable to the investigation.

On Thursday night at around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to Quarry Vista Park after receiving multiple 911 calls from residents hearing gunshots. Officers responded and discovered numerous spent casings in the park and bike path. There were no reported injuries. The park is directly behind of several homes on the same parcel of land and close proximity to where the casings were recovered.

The investigations for each are ongoing and anyone with information or video is encouraged to contact the Fitchburg Police Department at (608) 270-4300, or the Non-Emergency Dispatch (608) 255-2345. Anonymous tips can be made to Madison Area Crime Stoppers by calling (608) 266-6014 or via P3Tips.com. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
