Yes, the kids just got out of school, but when you care for thousands of children in foster care, back-to-school season starts early.
We’re already preparing to fill backpacks with school supplies for thousands of children across our community, and we’d love your help. School supplies will start showing up on store shelves soon, and every notebook, pencil pack, and backpack makes a difference.
Through our More Than a Backpack program, children in foster care receive the supplies they need to walk into the classroom confident and prepared. It eases the burden on foster families and helps kids focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and just being kids.
And for many children, these backpacks become even more important than school supplies. When children move from place to place, that backpack often carries their personal belongings too. A sturdy backpack gives them dignity, comfort, and something that truly belongs to them instead of a trash bag.
