St. Ambrose alumna Erin Butler ’20 recently returned to spend time with our junior high girls for their October discipleship! 🍂

Erin led the girls in a reflection on identity as a beloved daughter of God, sharing wisdom from her own experience as a former Guardian. She also reflected on the joy and freedom she saw in our young students:

"Coming back to St. Ambrose, I was struck by the carefree freedom the middle school girls have. In my experience of working with youth, an attitude like this is reliant on the environment and the people who foster it. I'm so glad St. Ambrose is a place where students can feel free, and it is so impressive to see what type of culture teachers and deans cultivate!"

She remembered, "being in 6th grade and how everything was so fun. It was a great reminder to be childlike again; to run with Jesus like middle school girls in a gym after doughnuts."

We’re grateful when our alumni return to share their faith, wisdom, and witness with the next generation of Guardians! 🙏

Today's Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (formerly Our Lady of Victory) commemorates the victory of the Christian Holy League at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. It was a decisive and semi-miraculous victory, which Pope St. Pius V attributed to the power of the innumerable Rosaries which the Christian people had lifted up in prayer for the preservation of Christendom in their hour of greatest need.

Students at St. Ambrose Academy filled the St. Joan of Arc Oratory this morning to pray the Rosary in honor of Our Lady's most powerful intercession, voluntarily taking time out of study hall in order to do so.

This lecture explores the early history of representative government from the Near East through Greece and Rome. Its central claim is that the fundamental principles of American Republicanism originated not in the Thirteen Colonies but in the ancient Mediterranean world. By considering a series of textual case studies utilized in the St. Ambrose History I curriculum, it is possible to gain a deeper appreciation of our nation’s place in Western Civilization.
