After four years serving Troop 29 as Scoutmaster, I have handed the responsibilities to Barb Hallick, a dedicated mother and Scouting volunteer. It has been an incredible time of camping, hiking, and meeting new people! Helping young boys grow into confident young men is quite the honor and I thank everyone in the Troop for allowing me to participate in the journey.

As I continue with my graduate studies and internship with the National Park Service, I will transition into a Troop Committee role as unit membership chair. Troop 29 could use some new Scouts and I hope to grow the ranks, keeping our family going well into the future.

Yours in Scouting,

Christopher Beaver

Scoutmaster's Minute:

American poet Carl Sandburg once said, "nothing happens unless first a dream." We have sent astronauts to the Moon and have made significant steps toward racial equality thanks to visionaries like John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. The key to these successes has, indeed, been due to leaders who were able to share their visions with many people across the Nation. You, too, might change the course of history one day by sharing your vision with others. However, the easiest way to start is to figure out what success looks like to you and make a plan to bring that vision to life. Your own Patrol should share a vision, too, to be the best if can be. Don't just sit there; seek out this vision and make it reality!

Scoutmaster's Minute:

As we know, a Scout promises "to help other people at all times" and "to do a good turn daily." We also know that a Scout doesn't do these things for recognition or thanks. However, it is a nice gesture to thank someone, Scout or not, who has helped you in some way. For example, none of us would be where we are today if it weren't for the help of many people. Have you taken the time recently to think of who these people are? Have you thanked someone for helping you get where you are today? If not, I would urge you to take a moment to do so.
