As we begin a new week, we are celebrating the closing out a successful Future Ready Workshop and the amazing community that made it possible!

Last week, participants engaged in expert-led sessions, peer learning, and planning activities focused on healthcare, education, employment, adult long-term care, community life, and financial planning. Together, they gained valuable tools and skills to help navigate the transition to adulthood and prepare for the future.

👏 A huge thank you to our presenters:

- Aging & Disability Resource Center of Brown County WI
- Brian Kenney with Team Extreme

🌟 Lynn and Danielle are excited to spend today wrapping up our Future Ready workshop in Green Bay!

Over the past few days, 27 teens and young adults and their families have participated in this hands-on workshop focused on preparing for the future. Together with a variety of professionals, families explored self-advocacy, adult service systems, decision-making, employment, and other important topics that support greater independence.

Today, 25 families will leave with a clearer understanding of what's next, along with practical tools and a plan to help navigate the transition to adult life.

As family members with lived experience, we know firsthand that planning for the future can feel overwhelming. That's why we're so grateful to be part of supporting these families as they build confidence and prepare for what's ahead.

🧡 Daily Reminder 🧡

To the families raising children with special health care needs:
You are doing more than most people can see.

Every appointment you schedule, every therapy you attend, every medication you manage, every question you ask, and every moment of advocacy you provide matters.

Some days may feel overwhelming, but your love, dedication, and persistence make a difference every single day.

📢 Important Update for BadgerCare Plus Members

New federal requirements are expected to affect some adults enrolled in BadgerCare Plus (BC+) beginning in 2027.

Under the new law, some members ages 19–64 may need to meet certain requirements—such as working, attending school, participating in job training, or volunteering, to maintain their health care coverage.

For families of children with disabilities or complex medical needs, now may be a good time to explore with your CLTS Support & Service Coordinator whether your child qualifies for Medicaid through the Katie Beckett Program—and learn how BC+ members, and parents as caregivers to children with disabilities (of any age), may qualify for an exception to this new rule.

To help families and community members understand these upcoming changes, Wisconsin DHS will be hosting an informational webinar to discuss:

✅ Who may be affected
✅ Exemptions and special circumstances
✅ What activities may count toward the requirement
✅ Timelines and next steps
✅ Exemptions from the requirement (such as Katie Beckett)

📅 Thursday, June 18th
⏰ 2:00 pm

Please share this information with family, friends, caregivers, and community members —or anyone who may be impacted by these upcoming Medicaid changes.
