East Madison Community Center - Hip Hop Dance Program The Hip Hop program at the East Madison Community Center offers free dance classes every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

The East Madison Community Center is a neighborhood focal point, serving children and families from the surrounding area, collaborating to help community residents achieve goals, gain skills and strengthen the community through education, employment, fitness and socialization. This program started four years ago by opening up the center on Tuesday and Thursday night for B-Boy/B-Girl practice sessi

ons from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Through sharing skills, everyone taught each other. We find younger dancers build skills more quickly through a more structured environment. Grants from Dane Arts and Madison Arts Commission provide a boy’s dance instructor, Rene Avilia who teaches from 4-5pm on Tuesdays. EMCC benefits as well from the Performing Ourselves Program that has UW student Sarah Schwab teaching two girls groups every Thursday from 3:40-5:20.
