🎯 Your attention may be more trainable than you think.

Research led by Katherine MacLean at the University of California found that meditation training improved people's ability to sustain attention and stay focused over time.

Attention is like a muscleβ€”the more we train it, the stronger it becomes.

Today, try giving your full attention to just one thing: your breath, a cup of tea, or a short walk. 🌿

πŸŒ™ Could mindfulness help you sleep better?

Researchers at the University of Southern California found that older adults who completed a mindfulness meditation program reported significantly better sleep quality than those who received sleep education alone.

If your mind feels busy at bedtime, try spending five minutes simply noticing your breath before sleep.

A calmer mind often leads to a more restful night. 😴

Change can feel unsettling because we cannot always know what comes next.

Perhaps peace is not about having certainty, but learning to meet uncertainty with a little more ease. 🌱

🀝 What if you could create a little more space between something happening and your reaction to it?

Researchers at Michigan State University found that even brief meditation training improved people's ability to recover from mistakes and stay focused.

Life will always bring challenges and frustrations.

Mindfulness doesn't make them disappear β€” but it can give us a little more space before our next reaction.
And sometimes, that space changes everything. 🌿

Our brains are wired for change, and everything we think, say, or do helps us rewire our brain; yet, consider how the body and mind seek out stable states. There is interesting tension between being biologically designed to adapt while also striving for certain forms of stability. We don’t have to see these as opposites, but rather, we can view them as partners. Stability gives us a foundation that allows us to shift.

😊 Can a few minutes of meditation actually make you happier?

Research from the University of Wisconsin found that people practising loving-kindness meditation showed increased activity in brain regions associated with positive emotions and well-being.

The practice is simple: spend a few minutes wishing yourself and others happiness, health, and peace.
Sometimes small habits can create meaningful shifts. πŸ’›

Discerning Awareness: This helps us to know what is appropriate or not. It prevents us from doing things that we will later regret and helps us to accurately assess the situation of others so that we know what to say or do to help them. β€” Lama Kipu

I feel that many students relate to White Tara.

Of course she's very gentle and very kind, and she has something that I want: help.

We think, "I hear she has an abundance of healthy vibes, which she would be happy to share with me."

When we think of White Tara, there's a kind of relaxation -- the very thing that we wish we had in abundance!

White Tara practice has a kind of nostalgic feeling. Somehow she seems more like an auntie than a real deity β€” that aunt who just dotes on you, who would give you anything.

We want to be healthier. We want to stop hurting. Who would be so kind as to help me achieve that?

She would be there for me the whole time, encouraging me and infusing me with something that only a doting aunt would do. I don't know if you ever had a favorite aunt like that. You never think. β€œWell, am I imposing on her? Is this too much for her?” No, no. Just call her up and she'll do anything for you. Like that.

In many ways White Tara was part of my recovery (from being a prisoner of war), my recovery of my sense of well-being .
In my previous life, I had great love for White Tara.

I felt that she was a beloved companion, and that she was so important to my well being. Not because of White Tara meditation practice, but just because she herself is so appealing.

Of course, I did many other very strong practices, including wrathful practices, (which I will not teach in this life.) I will not kid you. The wrathful practices, including Vajrayogini, are challenging to our sense of well-being.

And this is perhaps why White Tara practice was emphasized in Tibet; to act as a balancing β€” where we could relax into White Tara practice, and feel that we were loved and cared for.
I believe her practice produces long life through well-being.

The lack of stress in that practice really produces a sense of well-being and the experience of health that comes out of well-being.

It produces confidence in White Tara, who supports your new attitudes.

Feeling infused with a sense of well-being, my system, my mind, my body is working in the most efficient and least stressful way to relate to my life and my activities.
