Borth is from the Town of Lisbon in southeastern Wisconsin. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Nutritional Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research looks at how folate helps neurons regrow their connections after spinal cord injury. Following her graduate training at UW, Laura wants to continue in nutrition research and branch into policy. She has been contributing science-based articles to the Mount Horeb Mail, Middleton Times-Tribune, Star News, New Glarus Post Messenger, Reedsburg Independent, and Spring Green Home News beginning in June 2020.
