“There is an urgent need to create a clear meta-narrative – on overall case for wellbeing – that redefines progress and the purpose of society”.

The Institute for Collective Wellbeing and Civic Wellbeing Partners invite you to explore the results of our shared project, Mapping Collective Wellbeing!

The Collective Wellbeing Systems Map provides a snapshot of the collective wellbeing movement in the United States and globally. Explore recommendations, key learnings, stakeholders, case studies, resources, organizations, and more on the map.

This project was supported by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to better understand the wellbeing ecosystem in the United States, with learnings from initiatives from around the world.

Dear Collective Wellbeing Community,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to share that our Co-Director | Co-Founder Steve Gilchrist has transitioned out of The Institute for Collective Wellbeing (ICW) to pursue other career opportunities. His contributions to ICW are many, including his leadership to start our local Collective Wellbeing Stories initiative, his ability to ask powerful questions about the purpose of our organizations and society, and his commitment to co-create collective wellbeing for all. We know that this was not an easy decision for Steve, but ICW and partners sincerely thank him for his years of work and wish him and his family all the best.

ICW is taking a moment to reflect on Steve’s departure as a symptom of systems that have not yet recognized the value of collective wellbeing, or the changemakers within them. Working in service of wellbeing feels like a paradox at times – where the wellbeing we aspire for in the world can feel out of reach for changemakers who carry out the vision. Chief among our challenges is the chronic under-resourcing of individuals and organizations that co-create collective wellbeing in ways that are equitable and sustainable. Often there is a reality gap between ideas to address wellbeing and the resources, time, and energy it takes to birth them into life.

As our organization rests momentarily in this in between moment – the space between what was and who we dare to be – we ask for your support to resource our next chapter. We remain unwavering in our commitment to collective wellbeing as a paradigm for the emerging future, and we have several exciting updates that we will share in the weeks and months ahead.

In the meantime, would you consider making a donation (link in comments) to support our work? Ours is a shared vision that truly takes a village to realize. Please join us on the journey ahead.

Warmly,
Your friends at The Institute for Collective Wellbeing

Sending a huge thank you to Forward Community Investments for being such a progressive and thoughtful partner to Institute for Collective Wellbeing. With your trust and unrestricted financial backing through the Health Equity Grants program, we were able to bring key initiatives to life last year that lay the foundation for our work ahead.

Supporting the wellbeing of people within organizations, as well as the wellbeing of those we serve, is the ultimate gesture of holistic care. And fueling the unsexy work of organizational operations is the most forgotten -- *and most vital* -- role of philanthropy today. To be seen and held in full awareness of who we are and what we bring to the work is an act of love. Thank you again, Forward Community Investments, for sharing your love with us.
