πŸ’™ Middle school can be exciting, challenging, and sometimes overwhelming.

As young people navigate new responsibilities, changing friendships, and growing independence, their mental well-being matters more than ever. Research shows that half of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14.

The Wisconsin Office of Children's Mental Health has created a helpful resource with practical tips, insights, and strategies for supporting middle school students through these important years.

Congratulations Steven!!! πŸŽ¨πŸ’™πŸ§‘

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to 2026 Contest Finalist, Steven from Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District! πŸŽ‰

Titled β€œBelonging – Where We Belong,” Steven’s artwork was inspired by the beautiful lighthouse views along the East Coast, including the iconic Beavertail Lighthouse in his birth state of Rhode Island. πŸ—ΌπŸŒŠπŸŽ¨

Through his artwork, Steven reflects on identity, home, and the experiences that shape who we are. From Rhode Island to Wisconsin, from family heritage to future dreams, his piece explores the idea that belonging isn't tied to a single place. It's found in the people, communities, and connections that guide us along the way. πŸ’™

Looking ahead, he hopes to pursue a career in mechanical engineering or biomedical sciences, inspired by his love of creating things and solving problems.

πŸ’™ We are inspired.

Students in Madison are using their voices to advocate for youth mental health, helping raise awareness and build a culture where students feel seen, heard, and supported.

Their leadership is a powerful reminder that meaningful change often starts with a conversation, and that student voices matter in creating healthier school communities.

At the WEA Member Benefits Foundation, we’re proud to help advance school-based mental health efforts that foster care, connection, and belonging for Wisconsin students.

Congratulations Salonica!!! πŸŽ¨πŸ’™πŸ§‘

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to 2026 Contest Finalist, Salonica from Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District! πŸŽ‰

Titled "The Lonely Girl," her artwork explores the difference between fitting in and truly belonging. πŸ’›πŸŽ¨ Inspired by her own experiences and those of others, Salonica reflects on the challenges of feeling alone, even when surrounded by friends and family, and shares a powerful message: β€œfitting in often means changing yourself, while belonging means being accepted for who you are.” πŸ–ŒοΈβœ¨

When she's not creating art, Salonica enjoys watching shows, spending time with friends, listening to music, and participating in track and running. πŸ‘ŸπŸŽ΅
