Only a few weeks away — and you can be part of something that leaves a lasting mark on our rivers!

Trout Unlimited chapters from across Northeast Wisconsin, together with Antigo DNR staff, will gather along the Evergreen River near White Lake in Langlade County for a hands-on brush bundling habitat restoration project designed to improve habitat for trout and countless other species that depend on healthy coldwater resources.

This is your chance to roll up your sleeves, breathe in some fresh Northwoods air, and help restore a river one brush bundle at a time. Whether you’re passionate about conservation, enjoy working outdoors, or simply want to give back to the resource we all treasure, this is a day you won’t want to miss.

More details will be shared as the date draws closer, so stay tuned!

We hope you’ll join us on Saturday morning, June 20th for a rewarding day of conservation, camaraderie, and caring for the waters that sustain our wild places.

Final presentation of the season—tonight!

Join us this evening, May 12th at Sawmill Brewing Company, 1110 E. 10th Street, Merrill, WI, for our final monthly presentation of the season. Social hour starts at 6:00 PM, chapter news at 6:45 PM, and the featured presentation begins at 7:00 PM.

This month, Bob Paine shares “Fly Design for Both Tyers & Non-Tyers Alike,” an engaging look at the many fly patterns anglers often overlook—and how the right design can make all the difference on the water.

Whether you tie your own flies or simply love to fish, there will be something for everyone.
Come enjoy an evening of learning, laughs, and good company as we close out our chapter’s presentation season.

We’d love to have you join us!

You’re invited to our final monthly presentation of the season—don’t miss this one!

Join us on Tuesday, May 12th at Sawmill Brewing Company, 1110 E. 10th Street, Merrill, WI, where the evening begins with a social hour at 6:00 PM.

This month’s featured presentation, “Fly Design for Both Tyers & Non-Tyers Alike,” promises something for everyone—from seasoned fly tyers to those simply curious about what makes a fly irresistible to fish.

We’re pleased to welcome Bob Paine, who will share insights gathered from years at the vise crafting flies that truly catch fish. Come enjoy a great evening of learning, conversation, and camaraderie as we close out the season in style!

Over the years, Bob has found that many fly fishers, especially those who fly fish for trout, often limit themselves to only two or three kinds of flies in any one fly category--even when a different design would be more productive. For example, although there are at least a dozen different dry fly designs for adult mayflies, some people may limit themselves to two or three designs--say Catskill, parachute, and Comparadum. A similar comment can be made for emerger, nymph, wet fly, streamer, etc. designs. Although time won't allow Bob to cover all possible designs in each category, he plans to cover a number of designs in each category, presenting pros and cons of each, etc. Commercially available flies using many of these designs are available, meaning knowledge of the designs are useful to both fly fishers who tie their own flies and fly fishers who don't.

Whether you’re just beginning your fly-tying journey, a seasoned tier with boxes full of patterns, or someone who simply loves the thrill of fly fishing, this is one evening you won’t want to let drift by—our final presentation of the season awaits!

The evening casts off with Social Hour at 6:00 PM, chapter news lands at 6:45 PM, and our featured presentation hits the water at 7:00 PM.

We’d love to see you there as we wrap up the season together!

Hey, just a reminder that you’re invited to tonight’s April 14th chapter presentation, “Steelhead Fishing Great Lakes Tributaries,” at Sconni’s Alehouse and Eatery, 1239 Schofield Avenue, Schofield, WI.

We will be joined by Jake Pease, who will share his adventures steelhead fishing in Wisconsin’s Great Lakes tributaries. These spots are known for being fairly easy to get to, having seasonal variety, and yet being a bit challenging, giving anglers the chance to catch strong, migratory steelhead in relatively small and scenic streams and rivers.

Social hour kicks off at 6:00 p.m. Then, at 6:45 p.m., we’ll chat about chapter news, and Jake’s presentation will follow at 7 p.m.

It’s always a good time and super informative when we have a presentation at Sconni’s.

Hope you can make it this evening!

We’re grateful for the invitation and the chance to be part of such a fantastic event!

Now it’s our turn—join us on Tuesday, April 21st for another round of feathers, fur, and fish tales at Hackle & Hops. Dust off your vise, bring along your favorite “slightly exaggerated” story, and settle in for a night where the laughs flow as freely as the flies.

From 6:00–8:00 p.m., we’ll be gathering in the loft at Sawmill Brewing Company for an evening of fly tying, storytelling (truth optional), great food, and award-winning craft brews and sodas. Bring your tools, your materials, and a good light, and get ready for a relaxed, camaraderie-filled night with fellow tyers, anglers and friends.

Set inside Merrill’s beautifully restored 1940s DNR Headquarters (1110 E. 10th Street, Merrill, WI), Sawmill Brewing Company offers the perfect setting for a night of hackle, hops, and shared stories.

All ages are welcome—because the best fish tales only get better with a crowd.
