Thank you to the Alabama Broadcasters Association for granting us $1,000 as part of their 80th anniversary ‘tour’ around our state, celebrating those who inform and connect us. Thanks to Marie Waxel for recommending us, and to Teresa Schmitt Loans - FirstBank Mortgage NMLS # 470438, Board Vice Chair for accepting the grant. Congratulations to Liz Hurley WAFF 48 and WLRH 89.3 FM/HD’s Bob Labbe for being inducted into the ABA Hall of Fame, as well as to John Malone (posthumously). It was a great celebration and we are so grateful! Congrats to all the inductees and to the ABA for 80 years! (Also pictured is ABA Hall of Fame member Bob Baron.)

⚓ Happy Birthday, U.S. Navy! 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the sailors—past and present—who have served our nation with courage, commitment and sacrifice.

Since its founding on October 13, 1775, the U.S. Navy has defended our nation, protected freedom and carried a proud tradition of service across the seas.

Thank you to all who have worn the uniform and to the families who have supported them.

Happy Birthday to the United States Navy! ⚓

Today, we recognize the anniversary of the establishment of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the generations of veterans who have carried forward its mission of service, advocacy and camaraderie.

Founded on Sept. 29, 1899, the organization that would become the VFW grew from groups of veterans who had served overseas and wanted to ensure that veterans received the recognition, benefits and support they had earned.

More than a century later, the VFW continues to bring veterans together, preserve their legacy and serve veterans, military families and communities across the nation.

Today, we salute the VFW and all those who have served our country on foreign soil. Thank you for continuing a tradition of service beyond service.
