On Aug. 14, 1945, the world received the long awaited news that Japan had agreed to surrender bringing an end to World War II. The formal surrender followed on Sept. 2 aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.

On V-J Day, we remember the courage and sacrifice of the millions who served during WWII-especially those who fought across the Pacific. More than eight decades later, their stories remain an important reminder of the tremendous cost of war and the value of peace.

Today, we remember. We honor. We thank them. 🇺🇸

On Saturday, we were honored to attend Arthur Hullett’s 100th birthday celebration! (His actual birthday is tomorrow!) He and Martha were the king and queen of the event, and many lovely things were said to him and about him and what he has meant to so many. We, along with Legacy 4 Korean War Veterans Foundation were recognized as organizations who have brought so much joy to his life…and we even received gifts! It was a beautiful celebration and we are grateful to have made a difference in Arthur’s (and Martha’s) life! 🎂🥳🇺🇸🙏

On August 16, 1940 in Fort Benning, Georgia , 48 volunteers in the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon made the historic first jump.

Sixty-two years later, President George W.Bush proclaimed the first National Airborne Day.

Today, Aug. 16, is set aside to honor elite units like the 82nd Airborne, the 101st Airborne, and the Army Rangers.
