Last year, we asked EQT By Design to help us analyze the recommendations made in the Greater Madison Music City Music Recovery Framework with our community.

Community stakeholders identified included artists, music related businesses and non profits, and local supporters of music. The intention from the outset was to engage as many stakeholders as possible from the BIPOC community.

Greater Madison’s creative community is celebrating as Tyler Brunsell, independent artist and Creative Strategy Coordinator for Urban Community Arts Network - UCAN, has been selected as a fellow for the prestigious 2024-25 National Leaders of Color Fellowship program. Chosen by Arts Midwest, Tyler will represent Wisconsin and join 55 leaders from across the nation in this transformative eight-month leadership development initiative focused on advancing multicultural leadership in the arts, creative, and cultural sectors.

Through his work with UCAN, Tyler Brunsell focuses on empowering local artists, fostering community engagement, and advocating for racial equity within the arts. Currently, as part of the Greater Madison Music City collective impact project, Brunsell leads initiatives positioning music as a key driver of tourism in Madison while championing equitable opportunities for local artists. His dedication to using creativity as a tool for change makes him a standout leader and a perfect fit for this national fellowship.

“Tyler’s selection as Wisconsin’s representative reflects the depth of his impact and his commitment to advancing equity in the arts,” said Karen Reece, UCAN President. “This program will amplify his work and connect him to resources that will benefit the broader Wisconsin creative community.”
