Note that the following information about a Home invasion/Attempted Burglary incident on the 3700 block of Westbourne (in Country Grove) was posted on the Nextdoor app. Here is the original post:

I wanted to share a home invasion incident that happened at our home yesterday, Saturday, around 1:10pm.

While we were home, an individual opened our closed storm door and our front door, stepping inside for a few seconds. My husband yelled and chased him as he fled east on the Westbourne sidewalk. Thankfully, nothing was taken and no one was hurt, but it was frightening.

We filed a report with the Madison Police Department after the incident yesterday.

Description of the individual:
• Age/build: Appeared to be a middle-school-aged kid (possibly around 6th-9th grade) with a heavier build.
• Vehicle: An e-bike with fat tires and a fat frame. It is faster than a person can sprint.

We saw the same individual in the same/similar clothes riding the same bike past our house again today at 12:38 PM, heading into the Ice Age neighborhood from Westbourne.

If you live in the Country Grove neighborhood, could you please check your camera footage from yesterday (Saturday) between 1:00pm and 1:15pm?
If you see anything that matches this description, please reach out or contact the non-emergency line.

We will of course be keeping our front doors dead bolted, even when we're home.

I thought I'd forward along if anyone in the neighborhood has an interest...

The City of Madison is seeking to gauge interest in utilizing city-owned land for market and community garden spaces. This week, the Economic Development Division launched a Request for Expressions of Interest via a short survey intended for entrepreneurs, market farmers, small businesses, and organizations involved in community or market gardening and interested in expanding food access and assisting Madison families with food affordability needs.

The City is trying to understand if growers and community food systems organizations have interest in and capacity for expanding market gardens and community gardens in Madison.

“We are calling on community gardeners, farmers, urban ag enthusiasts, and anyone interested in local food production to help us collect ideas and input,” said Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway. “The City of Madison is very interested in using City-owned land to make our local food systems more sustainable and robust. Please help us with this first step of exploring how the City can partner with the farming and gardening community to increase local food production.”

Take the survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/WRX5V5N

This Request for Expressions of Interest is the first step before the solicitation of formal proposals from qualified individuals and organizations.

In case anyone is traveling soon...

Headed to the airport this week? Consider giving yourself a little extra time on your drive in. Starting Monday, October 27, Packers Avenue (north of International Lane) will be temporarily closed for construction. While this may cause some extra congestion, International Lane and Darwin Road will remain open for airport access.

Thank you for your patience and safe travels!
