This week, nearly 200 sophomores registered to take a free diagnostic ACT as part of Galin Education and ' Diag Day! The event aims to empower sophomores to better understand their areas of strength and opportunities for improvement over the next year, before they take the official ACT in their junior year. Thank you to all of the libraries who partnered with us to make this day a success!

Diag Day 2026! Over 160 tenth graders took a free practice ACT this week through this event with Dane County public libraries, Galin Scholars and Galin Education! These students will now know their starting point to prepare for the official ACT next year. Practice can lead to improvement from wherever you start! Thanks to all of the library staff and the Galin Education team who helped to make this opportunity available!

A great college prep opportunity for 10th graders! Each March, Galin Scholars and Galin Education partner with public libraries across Dane County to host a “Diagnostic ACT® Day.” While 11th graders are taking the official ACT® at school, 10th graders can take a free, baseline test at a local library. This practice test helps students to determine their areas of strength and opportunities for improvement over the next year.

The Galin Scholars application for the Class of 2028 (current 10th graders) is now available with an application deadline of Friday, April 10, 2026.

This spring we will select our fourth cohort of up to 6 scholars to participate in our two-year comprehensive college prep program.

Visit galinscholars.org for more information. Teachers, family members, counselors, coaches, or mentors may also nominate a student who will then be invited to learn more about our program and to apply.

Congratulations to Galin scholar, Sennie Kidau, on this award!

We're proud to honor 14 Middleton High School and Clark Street Community School students who were recognized with Outstanding Young Person awards at the Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Recognition Breakfast on Sunday!

Hosted by the Urban League of Greater Madison, the annual event honors Dane County middle and high school students for demonstrating academic excellence, leadership and service. Students were honored for achievements that reflect Dr. King’s vision of leading with purpose.
