Madison Knitters' Guild

Madison Knitters' Guild Inviting all knitters to join us on the 2nd Monday of the month, September to May. Currently hybrid~ Members include all skill levels, from beginner to expert.

The Guild, likely the first in the nation, was founded by Dorothy Camper and Joan Dunn in 1981 to promote interest, appreciation, and skill in knitting. It was a small, but steadily growing group until the late 1980s when membership grew to almost 100. Today we have a membership of over 550, and a number of the founding members are still with us! The Guild meets second Monday of the month, Septemb

er through May. Monthly meetings include nationally recognized designers, authors, and teachers speaking about knitting related topics. We have local vendors at each meeting, and members share their finished obects during Show and Tell. A great member benefit is access to a Library which features magazines, books and audiovisual materials, all available for checkout. The Library and a Knit Aid Station opens at 5 pm before each meeting for anyone who needs help with knitting projects. The Guild has a strong commitment to the Madison community and regularly contributes to area shelters, schools, hospitals, and other charitable organizations.

The best kind of delivery! 🧶

A huge thank you to MKG members Pam, Kirsten, and Carolyn for dropping off bags of handmade critters at the Monona, Edgerton, and McFarland Public Libraries.

Each one of these little creatures was lovingly made by our talented members and is now waiting to be discovered by curious young readers across the area. There’s something truly magical about knowing a child’s new favorite friend was made right here in our community — stitch by stitch, with so much heart.

Thank you to every member who knit, crocheted, stuffed, and stitched along the way. You bring so much joy to so many little hands! 💚
