More Smiles Wisconsin

More Smiles Wisconsin The mission of More Smiles Wisconsin is to ensure access to quality dental care to the underserved i Our job has only just begun. Wisconsin needs more smiles.

Since we opened our doors in 2009, Madison Dental Initiative has always been more than just a dental clinic. Our staff and volunteers reduce pain for veterans; prevent children from missing school; restore confidence to unemployed folks; remove worry from struggling families; and provide hope to the homeless. In short, we don’t just provide dental care; we work to change lives. Whether it’s lack o

f insurance, financial misfortunes or loss of a job, there are too many individuals who see dental care as being out of reach. We will continue to change all those lost smiles into more smiles. We know more smiles can change everything. And, we want our name to express these goals and our optimism. Our new wider vision requires a new name that proclaims our wholehearted commitment. Our new name, “More Smiles Wisconsin” boldly says what we do makes a difference. We know the life-changing impact of a smile. The positive future of our community is through more smiles. “More Smiles Wisconsin” is about empowerment and a better tomorrow. Our mission is to ensure access to quality dental care for the underserved in South Central Wisconsin. Let’s continue working together to create a brighter and happier Wisconsin.

When asked what barriers he experienced in finding dental care, MSW patient, Josh, stated that he had experienced numerous challenges, with the greatest being embarrassment and shame about the condition of his teeth. He then went on to say that the hospitality from all of the staff and the level of care he receives keeps him coming back to get his dental needs addressed.

Stories like Josh’s remind us why our work matters. We are deeply grateful for the support of our community, funders, and patients who are willing to share their experiences. Because of that support, More Smiles Wisconsin can continue creating a place where individuals feel safe, respected, and seen—and where they can regain not only their oral health, but their smiles as well.

We are super proud of our Youth Apprentice, Tori. All of us at MSW hope she is enjoying her dental hygiene education journey thus far and we so glad that we got to provide the apprenticeship opportunity for her. She is going to be a great provider!

Are you Ready for an Update?! Two of our Class of 2024 Youth Apprenticeship Health Science students started their fall semester this year with big smiles! Gabrielle (Gabby) McFadden and Victoria (Tori) Raemisch are at the University of Minnesota in their Dental Hygiene School! Both Gabby and Tori were dental assistant apprentices prior to high school graduation, Gabby working with the wonderful staff at Monroe Street Family Dental, and Tori working with the wonderful staff at More Smiles, Wisconsin. We are so proud of our Waunakee Alumni!
