To the Madera F.A.N. Community,
After much thought and reflection, I am announcing my resignation from my leadership position with Madera F.A.N., effective June 2026.
My journey with F.A.N. began in 2012 when I joined as a committee member. What started as an opportunity to support local student-athletes quickly became one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In 2019, I was honored when Bill Dawson asked me to take over as President of Madera F.A.N. I accepted that responsibility with great pride and a commitment to serving the student-athletes, schools, and community that make Madera such a special place.
Over the years, I have been blessed to work alongside dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, passionate coaches, supportive families, and outstanding student-athletes. Together, we have helped strengthen the connection between our community and the young people who represent Madera with pride and excellence.
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has supported Madera F.A.N. throughout my time in leadership. Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in our mission have allowed us to make a meaningful impact on local athletics.
I would also like to personally thank those who have supported me throughout this journey.
To my wife, Melissa Desmond, thank you for your patience, encouragement, and countless sacrifices that allowed me to dedicate so much time to this organization.
To my father, Gerry Desmond there are no words that can describe your dedication to F.A.N and our community, my mother, Linda Desmond, thank you for always being available to help us out at events and getting me there to the events. and my stepmother, Michelle Oberti Desmond, thank you for all the raffle prizes and family support to make our events successful and a huge thank you for your unwavering support, guidance, and belief in me over the years. I am also grateful to our current President, Tyler Takeda, for his leadership, friendship, and commitment to ensuring the continued success of Madera F.A.N.
While I am stepping away from a leadership role, I am not stepping away from F.A.N. I will continue to support the organization and remain involved as a member and volunteer whenever possible. I believe deeply in the mission of Madera F.A.N. and the positive impact it has on our student-athletes and community.
As I look ahead, I encourage everyone reading this to consider becoming involved with Madera F.A.N. Whether through membership, volunteering, sponsorship, or donations, your support helps provide opportunities for the local athletes who make Madera such a great place to live. The future of F.A.N. depends on community members who are willing to give back, and I know there are many people ready to continue this important work.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving this incredible organization and community. I will always cherish the friendships, memories, and accomplishments we have shared together.
With sincere gratitude,
Ryan Desmond
