Gather up the family and go grab Mom! It’s almost time to run, walk or stroll. Are you ready?
We, The Kiwanis Club of Greater Madera, cannot thank participants enough for signing up. Our race is one of the very few 100% nonprofit races in the valley, with all unpaid volunteers. All proceeds, 100%, go towards helping the children of the San Joaquin Valley. We provide scholarships, support the Madtown Robotics Team and provide support to many projects that benefit our children. Your support of our event ensures that we continue with this mission.
Please note that the location of the start/finish and breakfast had to be moved this year due to safety concerns as the Boots in the Park Concert event Saturday night will be busy taking down and moving equipment throughout the park on Sunday morning. We have maps of the start area as well as the race course uploaded to the sign up page and our face book page. Please click on the links to view the maps ahead of time.
Unfortunately, due to this unforseen change, there are no covered group patio sitting areas but there are shade trees. We will have tables and chairs for the pancake breakfast (limited seating) . We encourage bringing a folding chair this year for your added convenience.
It seems that even the heavens did not want to spoil Mom's special day! For the first time in months it will not rain on a weekend, in fact it will be HOT! Please hydrate and bring those hats and sunblock! We also recommend that you bring water with you on your run/walk. There will be limited water on the course. Water stations are placed about every two miles for the 10K and 1mile for the 5K. We will ,of course, have water for you at the finish. All participants get a beautiful finishers medal. The first 300 moms will get a beautiful flower and lets not forget that yummy pancake breakfast that Mom did not have to cook on Mother's Day!
A few last tidbits about what to expect:
The 5k and 2 mile events start times may be delayed a few minutes to help spread out the runners
The course will have a fun (challenging) little hill about one mile in and there will be some cross country style (dirt trails) trails. Strollers are welcome but may slowed a bit.
Bib pick up will be Saturday 5/11/2024 at Fleet Feet from noon until 3pm then again 7:15am until just before run time
HEAT! HOT!! Just like Mom, we want to keep reminding you that it will be very warm out. Be prepared.
Lastly,we would like to thank everyone for their support, patience and understanding. Especially the patience and understanding part! This event is organized and run by ordinary people with everyday jobs and lives who volunteer their time. This event could not be realized without the generous help and support of the added volunteers largely made up of friends and family from our local communities. Kiwanis International is built on people that want to to make their community and the world a little bit better for the children. We are so very grateful for you all and we hope to see you again next year!
