MADERA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL & FOUNDATION HISTORY

In 1966 a group of concerned Madera leaders formed a coalition directed at developing the healthcare facilities available in Madera County. At that time the community was facing a severe healthcare crisis: the two existing hospitals had lost their compliance status, making them ineligible to receive government funding. Through dedication and innovati

on, the coalition was able to build a brand new facility. Completed in 1971, Madera Community Hospital (MCH) has continued to grow from a 78 bed acute care facility to a 106 bed healthcare institution, offering a wide range of sophisticated diagnostic and treatment services. Emergency Room visits are averaging 117 patients a day or 3,569 per month. The Family Health Services Clinic averaging 125 patients a day or 3,825 per month. Madera Community Hospital is also operating the Chowchilla Medical Center, a rural health clinic averaging 31patients per day 936 per month. MCH Labor and Delivery Department is very busy averaging 149 births per month. The MCH Foundation was formed in 1978 as a fundraising arm of Madera Community Hospital. The Foundation Board is made up of 25 volunteer community members. Since its inception the MCH Foundation has raised over $3,000,000 to purchase medical equipment for the hospital.
