La Comida Guild is proud to have selected Lauren Wilson as their Volunteer of the Year! Lauren joined La Comida Guild in 2007, and over her 19 years of service has helped with the website and logo rebrand and development, served as Home Tour Chair, been a part of the Greens, PR, Sponsorship and Silent Auction committees, was Vice President for two years and is currently in her second year as Guild President. Lauren says she grew up watching her mom and grandmother volunteer and saw firsthand the impact it made, so becoming a Guild member felt like a natural way to follow in their footsteps. Her fellow Guild members shared that Lauren consistently demonstrates a generous spirit of giving the embodies the vision and passion instilled by our Founding Mothers.

Congratulations Lauren! šŸ’›

Kings Guild is happy to have selected Ondria Mello as their Volunteer of the Year! Joining in 2022, Ondria has been a Guild member for four years and served in multiple roles including Membership Chair, Party Chair, Vice President and a member of the All Guild Fundraising Committee. Before becoming a Guild member, Ondria volunteered for Kid’s Day for many years with her mother-in-law, and her grandchildren have utilized services at Valley Children’s. Supporting the Hospital, which she recognizes has been a vital resource not only for her family but also for families across the Valley drives her commitment as a Guild member. Ondria is recognized for wearing many Guild hats and getting the job done, and done well, no matter what it takes.

Congratulations Ondria! šŸ’›

At the annual All Guild Picnic, the Guilds recognize each of their Volunteer of the Year. Over the coming weeks, we’ll highlighted each of these Guild members for their dedication and passion towards the Guilds’ mission.

Last week, nearly 250 Guild members and special guests gathered for the 2026 All Guild Picnic. During this special event, the Guilds presented a check from their 2025 fundraising efforts in the amount of $1,411,233. These fundraising proceeds are the first towards the Guilds’ twelve-million-dollar commitment to establish the Guilds Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Endowment and Guilds of Valley Children’s Endowment. Before coming to a close, 11 very special Guild members were recognized as Volunteers of the Year for their dedication and passion towards the Guilds’ mission.

The first All Guild Picnic dates over 72 years ago. On May 4, 1954, Guild members gathered, enjoyed BBQ sandwiches and heard from the ā€œtop brassā€ at Valley Children’s. This time-honored tradition is a meaningful reminder that through decades of service, the Guilds have played an essential role and continue to be woven into the very heart of Valley Children’s.

We can’t wait to share more highlights from this special day with you soon!

Guild members have the opportunity to shadow the Valley Children’s Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Team in an immersive training environment, allowing them to see firsthand the important and specialized work ECMO specialists do. Simulation-based training helps improve patient outcomes, enhance safety and reduce healthcare costs by giving ECMO specialists a controlled space to prepare for high-risk situations. Earlier this year, Becker’s Healthcare recognized the Valley Children’s ECMO Program for its extensive simulation-based training (see link in bio to read more).

Shadowing the Valley Children’s ECMO Team during these trainings allows Guild members a unique behind-the-scenes look at the dedication, coordination and expertise ECMO requires, while creating meaningful connections as the Guilds continue to raise funds to establish the $10 million Guilds ECMO Endowment.

Today, healthcare teams around the world are celebrating the inaugural ECMO Team Day, recognizing the many professionals whose expertise and collaboration make extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) possible.

The date was chosen in recognition of the birthday of Dr. Robert H. Bartlett (May 8, 1939), widely regarded as the ā€œfather of ECMO.ā€ Dr. Bartlett was a pioneering surgeon and researcher whose work helped transform ECMO, one of the most complex forms of life support, from an experimental therapy into a lifesaving treatment used worldwide.

At Valley Children's, ECMO care reflects the dedication and expertise of many teams working together for the most critically ill patients. Dr. Bartlett’s inspiration helped our organization become an internationally recognized Platinum Level ECMO Center of Excellence, and many of our team members had the privilege of knowing Dr. Bartlett over the years. In this photo is our ECMO team accepting the Platinum Level award from Dr. Bartlett.

On this inaugural ECMO Team Day, we recognize and thank the individuals across Valley Children’s whose skill, innovation and compassion make this remarkable care possible.

The Guilds of Valley Children’s are proud to support Valley Children’s ECMO Program with the establishment of the $10 million Guilds ECMO Endowment.

Supported by the Guilds Pink Pig Fund, the ā€œCare in Every Curlā€ initiative provides hair care bags with essentials especially designed for patients with curly and textured hair, ensuring they feel seen, supported and cared for.

ā€œWe want to make sure that everyone has what they need to feel good while they are in the hospital,ā€ said Brittany Meyer, an acute care manager at Valley Children’s. ā€œThis is a small way to help with that.ā€

The Guilds Pink Pig Fund helps make programs like this possible, continuing its long-standing commitment to directly supporting patients and families while at the Hospital.
