Huge win in Marine Conservation. Keep em coming!

Faroese police bring charges against former district sheriff for animal cruelty following police reports of the grindadrap in Hvannasund on June 2nd, 2024.

"We’ve reported cases of animal cruelty to the Faroese authorities for years, including clear violations of the Grind Law, so it is encouraging to finally see action being taken on the complaints which we have raised." said Lukas Erichsen, Co-Lead of Sea Shepherd's Faroe Islands campaign.

In 2025 over 1000 dolphins were killed in ten Faroese grinds, not including all fetuses and juveniles.

3 homeowners are in the way of the Nova Scotia rescue plan for 30 Beluga whales to be moved to a whale sanctuary. Marineland Canada is threatening to euthanize all 30 of them if no one comes to rescue them soon. Homeowners aren’t letting it happen because “it will impact their access to the shoreline”. Funding and permits could go through but this is what is holding it up….Some people are just awful.

Marineland Canada says none of their remaining beluga whales in captivity should go to Nova Scotia, where a proposed whale sanctuary is looking to be set up as a refuge for whales who remain in captivity.
