Today, members of the Special Operations Radio Team (SORT) participated in the Emergency Preparedness Fair hosted by the Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency (EMA) at the Theron Ussery Community Center in Macon, Georgia.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Major Charlie Coyner, Major Darrell Collier, Captain Gary Baker, and Alvin Hutto for their dedication and assistance in making today's event a success. Their willingness to serve and educate the public about emergency preparedness is a testament to the mission and professionalism of our organization.

We also express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Macon-Bibb EMA for inviting SORT to participate in this important community event. We value our continued partnership and look forward to working together to promote emergency preparedness and public safety throughout our community.

The SORT Team proudly participated in the EMS Week Picnic at Piedmont North Hospital on Wednesday May 20th. Special thanks to Commander Stewart and Lieutenant Lively for their efforts in setting up the communications trailer and supporting the event. A big shout out to Liana Rogers for the invite.

This evening, members of the SORT team participated in an Open House hosted by the Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in Macon. The event was held in conjunction with the Macon First Friday downtown festivities.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the EMA Director Spencer Hawkins for the invitation. It was a highly productive and worthwhile event.

Banquet Update

We are now just one week away from the commencement of what promises to be an extraordinary and memorable occasion — the 6th Annual SORT Awards Banquet. Preparations are well underway, and we are excited to share a distinguished lineup of participants and honored guests for this special evening.

Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies will be Mrs. Christina Guiriba, Chief Financial Officer of the Special Operations Radio Team (SORT).
Our Keynote Address will be delivered by Ms. Andrea Van Buren, former Wing Commander of the Georgia Civil Air Patrol, whose leadership and service exemplify excellence.
Event photography will be professionally provided by Mr. Craig Rotter, retired Agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Musical entertainment for the evening’s dance segment will be provided by Mrs. Karen Cass, a distinguished DJ from Atlanta.

We are deeply honored to welcome members of the family of the late Mr. Charles Giles, who will be present for the dedication of our Communications Trailer in his memory.

The SORT Banner will also be displayed in the banquet hall lobby for an official group photograph to commemorate this milestone event.

A cash bar will be available in the lobby for those wishing to enjoy an adult beverage.

In addition, we are pleased to announce the attendance of representatives from the Warner Robins Police Department, Dunwoody Police Department, and the Texas Emergency Management Agency, whose participation further underscores the cooperative spirit of this event.

While the registration deadline has officially passed, a limited number of seats remain available. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to contact me at their earliest convenience.
The banquet fee is $45 per person, and hotel accommodations are available at a preferred rate of $99 per night.
