In 1994, 12 black women came together in Chicago to create the term “reproductive justice.” This was a response to the women’s rights movement at the time that centered the needs of middle class and wealthy white women, while leaving behind the needs of marginalized communities that were impacted the most.
We recognize them today and every day:
