Wesleyan Academy for Lifelong Learning The WALL provides an exciting range of educational and social opportunities to mature learners in central Georgia.

Wesleyan College invites you to join a community program that provides an exciting range of educational and social opportunities to mature learners in central Georgia. The Wesleyan Academy of Lifelong Learning (WALL) offers a wide variety of courses designed to expose you to new ideas and activities in a relaxed and congenial setting, without concern for tests, grades or requirements, other than participation. Courses are of a short duration, usually four weeks and are staggered throughout the academic year. The sessions are taught by Wesleyan College faculty as well as experts from the community at large. Membership in the Academy allows you an opportunity to share your ideas and life experiences with like-minded people while exposing yourself to new ideas and interesting, sometimes controversial topics. Regardless of prior educational experience, this program has something for everyone; all you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn. The Academy serves Wesleyan’s commitment to lifelong learning by connecting the resources of the College with the diverse needs of our community.

Elements of Healthy Grief Recovery with Dr. Betty Williams

WALL members had the opportunity to share their personal definitions of grief and gain a deeper understanding of how each of us experiences and copes with loss. We also explored the many dimensions of grief. The conversation will continue at our next meeting in the brand-new amphitheater.

Verdi’s MacBeth with Mary Keating, Ed.L.D
💜
Opening with the witches' paradox during the second class session, “Fair is foul, and foul is fair,” Dr. Keating began the discussion of Act I of Verdi's Macbeth, highlighting a world in which appearances are deceptive and moral order is turned upside down. WALL members were also able to view wonderful songs from the opera with details about Verdi’s selection and how the songs were presented.

The final Writing Your Autobiography class with Ed Grisamore was a truly joyful experience. As Ed shared, 'joyful' is the word that best describes teaching a WALL class. He generously offered even more helpful tips and encouragement for writing an autobiography, reminding everyone that their story is uniquely their own and encouraging each participant to write from the heart and make it personal.

As part of the Leadership Lab’s Women’s Health Series, join us October 14 at 6 PM for Leading with Heart: A Conversation on Breast Cancer Crisis and Care.

Moderated by Cyndey Busbee, Vice President of Governance and Organizational Affairs for the Georgia Area of Atrium Health, the panel will bring together Laura Paxton, co-founder and executive director of United in Pink; Morgan Adams, FNP-C, nurse practitioner at The Look Shop; and Taylor W. McLendon, MD, of Renaissance Plastic Surgery.

Together, they’ll bring different perspectives to an important conversation about breast cancer, care and the support women need along the way.

Come ready to listen, learn and be part of a conversation that matters.

Tech Talks-Putting Tech & Best Practices to Good Use with Bethany Buck

Bethany Buck shared practical, easy‑to‑use guidance that WALL members can rely on now and in the future. Her four sessions covered the following and so much more:
• Session 1: Technology & Etiquette
• Session 2: Technology & Cyber Security (from phone calls to AI)
• Session 3: Technology & The Fast Lane (including things you never thought you’d do!)
• Session 4: Technology & The Future (what’s coming?)

We express our sincere gratitude for the additional documents she provided, which will serve as valuable reference materials both now and in the future.
