Over the next three years we will be exploring spiritual formation through the book, "The Reservoir." We'll be breaking the content up into a few separate chunks to make keeping up with participating a bit easier. Together, we hope to grow to be more like reservoirs than canals as explained in the introduction:

"As followers of Jesus, we want to pour out our lives for others. This is a good and beautiful thing. However, if we are not continually replenished by "living water," we will end up drained, dry, and exhausted. In the twelfth century, Bernard of Clairvaux diagnosed this very problem. He observed that many well-intentioned people were trying to serve, teach, and give without first receiving from God what they needed to maintain spiritual health. He described these people as "canals," and urged them to become "reservoirs" instead: 'If then you are wise, you will show yourself rather as a reservoir than as a canal. A canal spreads abroad water as it receives it, and a reservoir waits until it is filled before overflowing, and thus without loss to itself communicates its superabundant water. In the Church at the present day we have many canals but few reservoirs.'" (The Reservoir, page 1).

Last night our youth enjoyed a couple of different visuals to help understand the importance of living as a reservoir and to think through what action steps they can take now to lean into that practice.

We would love for you to join us. Discussions will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6-6:50 in our gym. You do NOT have to read the material to participate. We hope to see you next week!

Today, our youth were blessed with the opportunity to serve with the Backpack Buddies Ministry at Forest Hills Church.

Through the support of so many people in our community, this ministry provides supplemental food to help make sure children have food to eat over the weekend. Each week, approximately 3,100 bags are packed and distributed to students in Bibb, Monroe, and Twiggs counties.

It was such an honor for our youth to be a small part of a ministry that is making such a significant difference in the lives of children and families right here in our community.

Thank you to Forest Hills Church and to all of the volunteers, donors, and community members who have a hand in making Backpack Buddies possible. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside you!

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

🌿 Happy National Relaxation Day! 🌿

In a world that tells us to stay busy, keep striving, and never slow down, God's Word offers a different invitation:

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28

True rest isn't just about taking a nap or enjoying a quiet afternoon—it's about resting in the Lord. It's trusting Him with the burdens we were never meant to carry alone. It's finding peace in His presence and strength in His promises.

Today, take a few moments to slow down. Open your Bible. Spend time in prayer. Step outside and marvel at God's creation. Let your heart be reminded that He is in control, even when life feels overwhelming.

As Psalm 46:10 reminds us:
"Be still, and know that I am God."

May today be more than a day to relax—may it be a day to renew your soul in the presence of the One who gives lasting peace.

💙 How do you find rest in the Lord? Share in the comments and encourage someone today.

❤️ Happy Son and Daughter Day ❤️

Today we celebrate the precious gift of sons and daughters. They are a blessing from the Lord, entrusted to our care and forever cherished in our hearts.

"Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him." — Psalm 127:3

As a church family, we also recognize that this day may be bittersweet for some. We remember and pray for parents whose son or daughter is no longer with them, those who are separated by distance, and those carrying burdens only God fully knows. May you find comfort in the presence of the One who is "close to the brokenhearted." (Psalm 34:18)

Whether you're celebrating with little ones at home, cheering on grown children, praying for prodigals, or remembering a beloved son or daughter, know that God sees your heart and walks with you every step of the journey.

Today, let's thank God for the gift of our children, pray for the next generation, and encourage one another with the love of Christ.

💙 If you'd like, share a favorite memory or simply the first name of a son or daughter you'd like us to celebrate or pray for today. Our church family would be honored to lift them up.

💙 Happy International Day of Friendship! 💙

Friendship is one of God's beautiful gifts. Through encouraging words, shared laughter, faithful prayers, and walking together through life's joys and challenges, true friends remind us of God's love.

The Bible tells us:
"A friend loves at all times." — Proverbs 17:17

Today, thank God for the friends who have encouraged your faith, stood by your side, and pointed you toward Christ. Then, be that kind of friend to someone else. A phone call, a note of encouragement, an invitation to coffee, or simply taking time to listen can make an eternal difference.

Our church family is stronger because we walk together in faith. May we continue to build friendships that reflect the love, grace, and kindness of Jesus.

Tag a friend who has been a blessing in your life and let them know you're thankful for them! ❤️

📖 Psalm 46:10 📖

The end of summer is upon us. For some, that is a relief as the school year typically brings more structure and routine. For others, this is a season you're going to miss, for any number of reasons. As you try to squeeze in those last experiences and prepare for the school year ahead, take a moment to remember that God invites us to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).

Do you have a favorite place to experience that stillness with God? Think of a place where your mind allows you to give pause to the responsibilities and expectations that exist around you and simply to sit in silent stillness with our Savior. We hope you'll be able to create time to enjoy a few minutes in this space, or another like it, today as you reflect on the faithfulness of God.

📸✏ Drop a picture or jot a few words and let us see your special space. You may inspire someone to find a space like yours for themselves by doing so!

Today we celebrate the incredible gift of parents! 💙

Parenting is one of God's greatest callings—and one of life's greatest adventures. Through the laughter, the late nights, the lessons, the prayers, and even the challenges, God is faithfully at work in your family.

To every parent, grandparent, foster parent, adoptive parent, and every person who lovingly pours into the next generation: thank you. Your influence reaches farther than you may ever know.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." — Proverbs 22:6

Parents, don't underestimate the power of your daily prayers, your faithful example, and your unconditional love. The seeds you plant today can bear fruit for generations to come.

Happy Parents Day! May God strengthen you, encourage you, and bless your family as you continue to point your children toward Christ. ❤️
