🕊️ How to Support Someone Who’s Experienced Infant Loss 💛
When someone we love is grieving the loss of a baby, it can be hard to know what to say or do. Here are a few ways to show up with compassion:

✨ 1. Say their baby’s name.
It’s okay—and healing—to acknowledge their child. Their baby mattered.

✨ 2. Just be there.
You don’t need perfect words. Presence is powerful. Sit with them. Hold space.

✨ 3. Avoid clichés.
Phrases like “everything happens for a reason” can feel dismissive. Instead try:
“I’m so sorry. I’m here.” or “I don’t have words, but I care.”

✨ 4. Offer specific help.
Meals, errands, or checking in weeks or months later can mean the world. Grief doesn’t end after the first week.

✨ 5. Remember important dates.
Due dates, birthdays, or the day of their loss—acknowledging these times helps them feel seen.

Infant loss is a grief that’s often invisible but deeply felt. If you’re walking this path, please know: you are not alone, and your healing matters. 💛

Here are a few gentle mental health reminders for the journey:

✨ 1. Feel everything.
Grief comes in waves. There’s no right way to mourn. Let the tears fall—your heart is healing.

✨ 2. Speak their name.
Your baby’s life matters. Saying their name, sharing memories, or keeping rituals keeps love alive.

✨ 3. Find your support circle.
Whether it’s a therapist, a support group, or a friend who listens without trying to fix—it’s okay to lean on others.

✨ 4. Prioritize rest.
Your body holds your grief. Give it grace. Sleep, eat, breathe, pause.

✨ 5. Celebrate your strength.
You’ve made it through every hard day so far. That’s courage. That’s love.

National Rainbow Baby Day is celebrated annually on August 22 to recognize and support families who have experienced pregnancy loss and infertility, and to celebrate the joy of having a child after such a loss. The term “rainbow baby” refers to a child born after the loss of a previous pregnancy or pregnancies. The term was coined by grieving parents in online communities and has since gained widespread recognition on social media. 💕💕
