Reading confidence can shape a child’s experience in school and expand what they believe is possible.

Through A.I.R. 100 at Bruce Elementary School, 100 Black Men of Macon-Middle Georgia supports early elementary students who are reading below grade level. Structured literacy activities help children strengthen comprehension, develop consistent reading habits and grow more confident as learners.

100 Black Men of Macon-Middle Georgia is a 2026 Macon Violence Prevention community grant recipient. Investments in literacy are investments in opportunity, stability and brighter futures for our children.

Grief has no timetable, and no mother should have to navigate the loss of a child alone.

MVP community partner, Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia is sponsoring Better Together Circles™: Healing After Loss, a FREE, 10-week experience created and facilitated by Dr. Deitre Cotton. This is a welcoming space for mothers to connect, find support and explore healing together.

Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, through miscarriage or the death of a child at any age and from any cause, there is a place for you in the Circle.

An upcoming informational session offers a chance to meet Dr. Cotton, ask questions and decide whether participating feels right for you. There is no obligation to enroll.

Next Level Community Development Center provides young people with a safe, structured environment where they can receive academic support, explore new interests and build positive relationships with peers and adults.

Next Level is a 2026 Macon Violence Prevention community grant recipient. By creating opportunities for children during out-of-school time, the organization is helping strengthen young people, families and our entire community.

At First Tee - Middle Georgia, golf is a way to teach skills that extend far beyond the course.

Young people learn perseverance, responsibility, confidence and how to make thoughtful decisions. These lessons help them meet challenges at school, at home and in our community.

First Tee–Middle Georgia is a 2026 Macon Violence Prevention community grant recipient. Its work shows how positive activities and caring adults can help young people develop the character and resilience they need to thrive.

Ahead of World Mental Health Day, we are celebrating national recognition for storytelling that is helping men speak honestly about their mental health.

Macon-Bibb County’s Office of Communications received a Silver Circle Award from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association for its coverage of MVP’s Men’s Mental Health Meet-Ups. The award recognized the “Feet hit the floor; let’s go.” story series and its authentic look at men listening to, encouraging and supporting one another, led by MVP coordinator Jeremy Grissom.

Sharing these stories helps reduce stigma, reach people who may not know where to turn and remind men across our community that asking for help is a sign of strength.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a reminder that every young person deserves to feel safe, valued and supported.

Through Winners’ Mindset 2.0, Girls Dig Deeper Initiative helps girls strengthen their confidence, emotional wellness and decision-making skills. The program creates space for girls to find their voices, build healthy relationships and recognize their own potential.
