Matthew 21:22 says, “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
Today, I prayed for something that most people would probably think is crazy…
I asked God to let us see a snake.
I was guiding a group of Trail Life boys and dads down the river, and as we launched, I quietly prayed that God would let the boys see something memorable and interesting. In my mind, I pictured a snake stretched out on a log or sunning on a rock. Simple enough, right?
But God has a way of answering prayers far beyond what we expect.
Near the end of our paddle, the exact thing I prayed for happened — except even better. A beautiful king snake swam out just a few feet in front of us. Every single boy got to see it up close, and it turned into an incredible teaching moment none of us will forget.
Moments like this remind me that no prayer is too small for God’s attention. Sometimes I catch myself wondering if He really hears the little things I pray about… and then He answers in ways that remove every bit of doubt.
God cares.
God hears.
And sometimes, He even sends a snake swimming in the river to remind you.
