✨ WHAT A FANTASTIC EVENING! ✨

Tonight’s session of the Family Learning & Empowerment Literacy Series focused on the theme, "Writing Our Story: Responsibility & Expression." Families explored how writing can be used as a powerful tool for communication, accountability, and leadership.

Parents and children participated in reflective writing activities designed to strengthen comprehension, build vocabulary, and encourage collaborative goal setting within the family. It was inspiring to see families learning, sharing, and growing together!

We are also excited to welcome special guest Londyn Rodgers, 2026 Miss Macon’s Teen and 2026 Cherry Blossom Queen, a passionate advocate for literacy!

These engaging sessions are designed to strengthen Family Literacy, Family Engagement, and Family Leadership through hands-on activities, practical learning strategies, and meaningful family connections.

Macon-Bibb Mayor's Literacy Alliance was proud to participate in the 14th Annual Age-Friendly Community Celebration hosted by the Macon-Bibb County Age-Friendly Council. It was great to connect with community leaders, organizations, families, and residents from across Macon-Bibb County while sharing information about the programs and resources our organization offers to support literacy, learning, and family empowerment.

Events like this remind us of the importance of collaboration across generations as we work together to strengthen our community. Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who stopped by our table today. We are grateful to be part of a community that values connection, inclusion, and lifelong learning!

The Macon-Bibb Mayor’s Literacy Alliance is excited to launch our Family Learning & Empowerment Initiative, a FREE six-session series designed to help families strengthen reading and writing at home, build stronger connections with schools, and develop leadership skills together.

Families will enjoy interactive activities, receive books and learning materials, gain access to online educational resources.

If your family is ready to learn, grow, and lead together, we invite you to join us!

CELEBRATE READING, CELEBRATE FAMILY!

Join us for a great evening of family literacy as we celebrate the joy of reading in observance of National Family Literacy Month.

Featuring special guest Dr. Natalie Ball Myricks, author of “Neiron Is Just Like Me,” families will be inspired by the story and enjoy engaging activities. Each family also will receive an autographed copy of the book.

What a treat! MBMLA had an incredible time joining NewTown Macon’s Trick-or-Treat Celebration! We were honored to be part of such a meaningful event for families in the Macon-Bibb community and even more thrilled to share the magic of reading by distributing 2,700+ books to children and families. Together, we’re building a brighter, more literate future — one story at a time. 📕📚🎃
