Volunteer Opportunity: Live Like a Lighthouse Keeper on Sand Island This Summer
Imagine waking up each day on remote Waabaabikaa-minis (Sand Island) in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Spend your summer as a lighthouse keeper and campground host, greeting boaters, hikers, kayakers, and campers while serving as the main point of contact on this stunning Lake Superior island.
Positions & Dates
July 7 to July 28
August 18 to September 8 (end date flexible based on lake conditions)
This is a partner position. Both people must apply together and list each other on the application. A background check is required.
If you are looking for a true off-grid adventure in one of the most beautiful places on the Great Lakes, this could be it. Responsibilities include meeting visitors, sharing island knowledge, and helping maintain the historic lighthouse and campground.
