Great Lakes Sailing Adventure "Retriever" is a 52' sailing ketch owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. Open to any Troop, Venture Crew, Post, Ship, or other youth groups Ahoy!

Come set sail aboard Michigan Crossroads Council's newest addition to the Outdoor Adventures Program! "Retriever", a 52' ketch, is an offshore sailing vessel where youth will learn the fundamentals of sailboat handling, steering, waterway navigation, marine safety, and various cruising techniques used by seasoned sailors! Based in its home port in Straits Harbor in Mackinaw City, MI, "Retriever"

will embark on excursions to various destinations throughout the northern Great Lakes. Planned packages include day cruises, weekend cruises, and week-long cruises. The "Retriever" is designed to accommodate co-ed crews (2 staff & 14 participants); Charter Packages will be available for any BSA unit or other youth organization. The Great Lakes Sailing Adventure is designed for Sea Scouts, older Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts or Venturers. Participants must be at least 13 years of age by September 1st of the year they participate for Week-Long Packages. Participants must be registered Boy Scouts, Venturers, Varsity Scouts or Sea Scouts for Weekend Packages.

STATE OF MICHIGAN - CENTRAL REGISTRY CLEARANCE UPDATE
Please share this important information with your leaders and parents.

The Child Care Background Check Unit within the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) has implemented a new process for obtaining a central registry clearance, which is required for staff members and unsupervised volunteers who are 21 years of age or older at camp. The new process is simple, free, and can be done completely online.

PLEASE NOTE: While they will continue to honor paper forms already received, new paper forms will no longer be accepted after June 2, 2025.

To get started, go to www.michigan.gov/ccbc-camps, and create a new account.

1. Once you log in, submit a new central registry clearance.
2. Results will typically be received within 5 business days.
3. The camp is required to have a record of your central registry clearance on file, and there is an option to download and
print your results letter within the system when viewing your clearance letter. A hard copy is required at check-in when
arriving at camp. Do not mail to camp.

NOTE: For attendees that are not Michigan Residents, you will continue to follow the Out of State instructions.
