What an incredible evening! ✨

More than 160 guests joined us for Opening Act, helping us kick off the 2026 summer season of arts and culture on Mackinac Island in unforgettable fashion.

From the stunning setting and exceptional hospitality of Grand Hotel to the wonderful company, lively conversation, and beautiful music, the evening was truly something special.

A highlight of the night was our Art Raffle, featuring generously donated works from talented local and regional artists. Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to the artists whose creativity helps make our community so vibrant.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our event sponsors, guest artists, volunteers, and everyone who attended. Your support makes it possible for the Mackinac Arts Council to bring accessible arts programming to residents, seasonal employees, and visitors throughout the season.

The summer is officially underway, and we can't wait to share all that lies ahead.

Thank you for helping make Opening Act 2026 a tremendous success!

Did You Know?

When Somewhere in Time was being made, there was little money available for a musical score. Actress Jane Seymour suggested her friend, legendary composer John Barry, for the project and personally encouraged him to take it on.

Barry fell in love with the story and agreed to compose the music—creating what would become one of the most cherished film scores of all time. His unforgettable themes, combined with Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini," helped give Somewhere in Time its timeless magic.

Sometimes, the perfect score is simply meant to be.

Join us every Wednesday at 5 PM, step back in time and experience the magic for yourself at the Mission Point Theater. Some stories never fade—they simply wait to be rediscovered.
