Words have power! Join Straits Pride for our Spoken Word Showcase on Friday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Lucky Bean Coffeehouse on Mackinac Island. Enjoy an evening of poetry, readings, monologues, and other creative works exploring LGBTQ+ experiences through inspiration, education, humor, and storytelling.

Whether you’re a writer, performer, or simply love hearing powerful stories, this free event is a chance to celebrate local creativity and community in a welcoming space. In order to attend you are not required to perform a piece, nor do you have to sign up in advance, just come and be yourself! All are welcome.

Free and open to the public. We hope you’ll come speak and listen with us ❤️

Pride Month is coming to Mackinac Island, and Straits Pride is celebrating all June long with community events, creative activities, performances, drag entertainment, social gatherings, and opportunities to connect and celebrate together.

Whether you’re a local resident, seasonal worker, visitor, ally, or simply looking for community, everyone is welcome. This year’s lineup includes both free and ticketed events throughout the month designed to bring people together in fun, visible, and meaningful ways.

Join us as we celebrate pride, creativity, visibility, and community on Mackinac Island all month long.

Happy Earth Day! Last year, Straits Pride joined the Adopt-A-Road program with Mackinac Island State Park because we’re on a mission to keep Mackinac Island looking as beautiful as the people who live here… which is a pretty high bar.

We’ll be hosting trail cleanups in 2026, and you’re invited! Stay tuned for details and come hang out, pitch in, and help make sure the Earth is Mother forever 💅🌎

Shamrocks, Sparkle & Sass are coming to Hive North on March 21 for a St. Patrick’s Day season celebration filled with glamour, glitter, and just the right amount of mischief!

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with showtime at 8:00 p.m. This 18+ event features Sapphire Shade (Mackenzie Roberts-Derhammer), Aliya Holmes, and Deija Vaton, hosted by Mercedes Benz-Over.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, with limited seating available. The event takes place at The Hive North, 100 S Main Street in Cheboygan, and is proudly sponsored by Straits Pride.

Coffee Hour is popping up in Cheboygan! ☕❄️ Join Straits Pride for a cozy Coffee Hour on Saturday, January 31 at Hive North! It is the perfect excuse to get out of the cold, grab a free cup of coffee, and spend some time with good people in a warm, welcoming space.

Coffee Hour is a safe and comfortable place for LGBTQ+ community members and allies to relax, connect, and be themselves. Whether you stay for five minutes or an hour, you are welcome just as you are.

NOTE: Coffee Hour at the Mackinac Island Public Library will continue weekly as scheduled, so you can keep warming up by the fire there too! We hope to see you in Cheboygan, and on the Island, or both 🏳️‍🌈
