From our friends at Marine Rescue.

Yesterday, we responded to a 911 emergency call for two missing kayakers in the waters between St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. The kayakers paddled out, grew tired, flipped over their kayaks, and could not get back in.

Luckily USCG Station St. Ignace from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes had deployed their small boat, which was first on the scene and were able to get the people and their equipment safely onboard.

Spring has sprung. Yesterday the island had our first cruse ship and many tourists via the ferry, due to the overall business on the island EMS was engaged for 2 EMS calls and 2 Transfers from the Medical Center.
Please slow down and enjoy our island, have a meal at a restaurant, look both ways when you cross the street and wear the free helmet when you rent the expensive bicycle.
