Mackinac EMS

There is plenty of summer season left, and we are on track to surpass our run count from last year. Just last night, we were on duty and operating for 5 hours assisting Mackinac EMS and the Mackinac Island Medical Center, ending in the early morning hours.

A huge THANK YOU to all EMS crews on the island and the mainland who work even harder than we do, taking care of our community members and visitors!

It's Nation U.S. Coast Guard Day.
We are greatful to have U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City and U.S. Coast Guard Station ST. Ignace as local mutual aid partners. We thank them for all they do!

7.6.2026 To say we are greatful for our mutual aid partners would be an understatement. Mackinac Island EMS had back to back medivacs with North Flight Aero Med from the island to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City and one Ferry transport with Sheplers Mackinac Island Ferry and Straits Area EMS to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

From our friends at Marine Rescue.

Yesterday, we responded to a 911 emergency call for two missing kayakers in the waters between St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. The kayakers paddled out, grew tired, flipped over their kayaks, and could not get back in.

Luckily USCG Station St. Ignace from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes had deployed their small boat, which was first on the scene and were able to get the people and their equipment safely onboard.
