Our Monday evening presentation at the Gates House has been cancelled due to inclement weather. We had to make the call today as our guest speaker would have been flying to make the presentation. We anticipate rescheduling in July and will let everyone know once the date is set. Thank you!

The Machiasport Historical Society Tea at the Gates House will now be hosted on Saturday, October 3rd instead of Saturday, September 26th. This change of date is due to the weather concerns. We thank you and apologize for any inconveniences to your schedule.

Tea will be hosted at the Historic Gates House on Saturday, October, 3rd from 2:00-4:00pm. The Gates House is located at 344 Port Rd. Machiasport, ME.

On Monday, September 28, 6:30 pm, the Machiasport Historical Society will host author Barbara McFadden Dodge at the Gates House for a presentation on her book "The Reverend and the Mainers.” A remarkable story of 156 Mainers who uprooted their lives and left their belongings in 1866 to follow Rev. Adams from Downeast to the Middle East, boarding the schooner “Nellie Chapin” in Jonesport, Maine, and 42 days later arriving in Jaffa, Palestine. Barbara is a graduate of the University of Maine, Machias and her appreciation for historical research was inspired by her father, an officer in the United States Army, while her love of writing was nurtured by her grandmother, who was the owner and publisher of the Lincoln County News in Damariscotta, Maine.
