Friends,
Let me start by saying congratulations to my opponent Bucket Davis and his treasurer Rep. Tuell for running a successful campaign.
Now, there are SO many people that I need to say thank you to:
To the woman who told me that she had never put a political sign on her lawn, and was so excited and proud for mine to be her first.
To my lobsterman friend that NEVER votes, but made it a point to go to the polls to support me in my race.
To my teacher friend that messaged me to say that "voting never felt better," she loved me and she was celebrating my campaign regardless of the outcome.
To the former longtime legislator that wanted to show their support by displaying numerous lawn signs, eventhough I'm not a member of their party.
To the prominent member of our community that messaged me to say that he was a lifelong republican and eventhough it came down to the wire, voted for me because he thought I'd be "better than the other guy."
To the numerous friends and acquaintances that messaged me to say that eventhough they couldn't support me publicly for whatever reason, I happily had their vote.
To all of my Emerge sisters for their love and support. This is an amazing group of strong minded, confident, brilliant women and I'm so proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization.
To all of those that choose to vote for the person over the party - thank you!! WE need to take our country back.
To the massive amount of people that helped and supported me along the way - signed my petition to be on the ballot, donated seed money and $5 to my clean election campaign, offered their guidance, put signs on their lawn, helped pick up the signs, spread the word about my campaign and to EVERYONE that wished me well - I'm forever grateful for your assistance. I've received so many wonderful and thoughtful messages, during and after the campaign, I really am so thankful for everyone's kindness.
To the almost 1,800 of you that voted for me and trusted me enough to (hopefully) represent them in Augusta, thank you. I'm extremely proud to have earned your vote and I'm truly honored that you wanted to give me that chance.
Finally, a very special thank you to my Aunt Linda who went above and beyond to support me and to my treasurer, Katie. Most of all to my amazing fiancΓ© Tim who has been there every step of this journey. He's SO proud of me but honestly not particularly sad that I'll be home and not traveling to Augusta every week. π€£ This outcome certainly affords me much more time to work on many future projects and to plan our wedding next fall. π₯° Today just happens to be my 40th birthday as well, so I'm a little extra excited to see what my fabulous fourties have in store for me!
I can't thank you all enough for believing in me and supporting my quest to be the newest Representative for District 10. Playing the political game definitely isn't for the faint of heart, that's for sure. I knew that party allegiance was deeply ingrained and would be difficult to overcome in this newly formed district, not to mention having the incumbent in control of my opponent's campaign. I have no doubt it would have been a much tighter race if Machias, Roque Bluffs and Eastport were still a part of the district. SO many friends expressed their wish that they could have voted for me. Maybe in the future, the gerrymandering will swing in the other direction. It wasn't meant to be this time, but this was an astronomically amazing experience and who knows what the future holds! I do know one thing - this is my home and I will always do what I can to work to improve the lives of everyone else that calls this beautiful place home too.
Thank you all again, so much! β€οΈ
