On our last post, we said the invasive species workshop was happening on Friday, June 29, which isn't a date this year! Sorry for the confusion, we meant to say Monday, still on June 29.

We hope to see you there, in Middle River Park!

Thanks to Micmac Farms and pond owners throughout Washington County for another successful trout sale!

This year, we sold over 600 brook trout to stock the ponds of our customers. These trout will make for good food and even better fishing as the year goes on. Hopefully you all can catch them before the otters do!

Our trout sale happens every year, and updates and reminders for future sales can be found on our website.

Huge thanks to Maine Coast Heritage Trust, WHRL - Women for Healthy Rural Living and Maine DEP for putting together an awesome live staking event at the beautiful Milbridge Commons!!

Live staking is the practice of planting native woody plant cutoffs, like elderberry, dogwood, and willow, into eroding coastal bluffs. The root systems that develop will stabilize the shoreline, and can help prevent unwanted erosion.

Maine DEP offers certifications for various coastal erosion practices, and often hosts events and classes right here in Washington County!

Earlier this week, we had a great time with UMaine Extension 4-H in Washington County and Whitneyville Public Library teaching all about water quality and pollution!!

We used 4-H's "enviroscape," a model that teaches about how pollution from farms, cars, yards, factories, sewers, and more gets into our waterways. Students learned about point-source and nonpoint source pollution, and how different events can effect the waterways!

Thanks to everyone who helped out, and to the enthusiastic students who made this such a success!
